Now and then I receive a text sayin “this is my new phone number” or “I’ll send you the money in an hour or so” or “did you get my last text”. So what if I respond with yes or no? Somebody will know that they reached an active phone number but so what? What can they do with it?
I believe if they reach an active number then that number can get sold to other scammers/spammers. Make sure to ignore the one titled ‘from your favorite president.’
That’s a scam to start a conversation with you. If you’re stressed out and inattentive and careless during that conversation, the other person might be able to fool you into giving them something, like more attention or money.
I think most scams are obvious to people who are well-fed, had good sleep, not stressed out or lonely or feeling another over-whelming emotion. The scammers are hoping to communicate with you when you’re vulnerable and might fall for it.
Scams are pretty shitty, if you think about it.

There’s a new scam where they can steal your contacts and then hit them. Better to block and delete.
