What kind of fluid should I use for Formula Oro breaks? Is there much of a difference in the different kind of oils?
It is actually a “brake” you dont want it to “break”
Enough english lesson, their are basically two kinds of fluid used in bicycle brakes, one is mineral oil based and the other is DOT fluid. I believe that Formula uses a DOT fluid in their brakes, but it should be listed in the instructions or on the system. You should not use DOT in a mineral oil system or mineral oil in a DOT system as it can cause permanent damage to the seals. Most bicycle hydraulics that use DOT fluid use DOT 4 as it handles higher temperatures and works better in a smaller system. I believe DOT 3 will work, but probably not as well.

Formula ORO: Hydraulic brake fluid Use only DOT 4 or Shell’s Donax UB® hydraulic brake fluid from sealed containers. Do not leave the container open over a period of time because this product absorbs the moisture in the air, which alters its physical characteristics. Formula recommends to replace the fluid in the system every 2 years. The above was taken from the Formula Oro PDF file at: http://www.formula-brake.it/pdf/pdf/Manuali%20Istruzioni/Libretti%20Istruzione%20ENG/Oro/Libr_ORO_GB.pdf ~Tucker
