Just found out today I can no longer wear oakley’s or Maui’s. I need prescription glasses to read the monitors, and loved those glasses for the ability to block the side glare. So what have you found? Ideally I’d want a straight or almost straight temple as the curved temples dig into the ear back too much.
Oakley cancelled order as outside their offerings. Maui has same issue. It looks like the only ones that might work are smaller lens where local lenscrafters can replace lens.
I’m there, too, mostly. Super strong Rx - recently had to change contact lens brands because the ones I had been using for 15 years were not available in my new, stronger, Rx. But at least I can wear them and they’re available in my power. I have been thinking about some that have Rx inserts- Bolle used to do this and maybe still does. Rudy does it. Probably others. Advantage is that it’s no different than a normal Rx and you can change lenses for conditions.
if you are looking for cycling specific glasses you might try Rudy RB3s
When racing i do where contacts and the hypermasks but for regular riding if I dont feel like wearing my contacts I use the RB3s

If oakley cancelled the order it definitely wasn’t because they don’t do prescription glasses anymore
I’ve had prescription sunglasses from Oakley in the past, but my current ones are from Costa Del Mar. My daily glasses have progressive lens with transition, but I use the Costa for daytime running and biking. I am nearsighted and my Costas only have the distance correction which covers 99.9% of my needs. As long as my watch or Garmin are not within a foot of my face I can read them. For racing, I use contacts and regular sunglasses.
Rudy has been suggested. There is no info on their site for strengths available.
I only need 2.25+, but Maui and Oakley cut off at 2.0. Biggest disadvantage to Rudy is only available at one doctor. But I plan on calling tomorrow and seeing if it’s a possibility.
The inserts are another idea but not as good. Basically their over strength reading glasses so i can see signs clearly and the cyclometer.
You can also try a non-OEM lensmaker who will sometimes cut prescriptions slightly beyond the manufacturer’s maximum spec. I’ve had good luck with SportRx.com in the past making Jawbone lenses for me. Not sure what their allowable range is.
Go to a real eye glasses store, not your local lense crafters. Guys who make their own lenses can do anything with any frame. Find the most high end store in your area. You will find a pair of $1,000 mykata frames that you really want, but you will also likely find a very knowledgable sales person who can really help you. Look at it the same way as buying a bike. Lense crafters = Walmart, your local optometrist = sun and ski sports, eye glass shop = local bike shop.

I’ve had this problem before as well and here’s how it was explained to me why it sometimes won’t work…
Some stronger prescriptions tend to have a more pronounced curvature or radius. When they grind the lens to fit into the frame, the apex of that lens has to be within a certain alignment and angle range relative to your pupil. With sports wraparound frames, the more pronounced
curvature makes it more difficult to grind the lens so it fits in the frame at the correct alignment and position relative to your pupils. Basically, if I tried to fit my prescription into some of these pronounced wraparound frames, I’d have to have eyes like Marty Feldman. And if you’re not sure what that means, just google search images of “marty feldman eyes” and you’ll get it.
Ultimately I’ve found that the less dramatic the curvature of the frame, the more likely it might work.
I’m a +6.0 prescription wearer and it took me some time to find decent sunglasses (I also cannot wear contact lenses).
I finally found http://www.sportsoptical.com/prescription_sunglasses.htm, and they were able to fit my prescription into a decent frame (Rudy). I suggest sending them your prescription and having them recommend the frames that will work best.
