So far the softest training shoes I’ve ever experienced are my Nike Vomero+2s.
It’s time to replace them and I want to know what neutral training shoes you know to be as soft or softer than these shoes?
Thanks.

I don’t have experience with the Vomero, but I’ve yet to find a shoe as soft as Sauconys. Give them a spin. Since I’ve been running Saucony’s, almost every other shoe feels like strapping a tire to my foot.
the nike vomeros are quite possibly the softest shoe ive tried. but caution to others, i got really bad knee pain from them with zero history of knee problems.
the asics nimbus is a nice shoe, but heavier.
I too have to seek out the softest, cushioned and neutral trainers I can find. I have suffered from stress fractures in the past, am a bigger guy at 6’3 and 185 lbs, and I do really well with a softer, neutral shoe.
Adidas Response cushion are some of the best I have tried. Nike Air Max Plus ( new style, 2009-1010) are also good, but will run you about $165. I normally go for the Response Cushion, with an additional Spenco Walker/Runner or Spenco Cross Trainer cushioned insole. FYI- the cross trainer is the same as the walker/runner with the addition of more forefoot cushion.
I just bought a pair of Nike Lunar Glide2 but even these are a bit firm for me. Good for short runs or speed work however. Nike Pegasus are pretty soft, however Nike has lowered its heel to toe ratio over the last few years ( making the heel lower) and I just can’t use any of their new shoes. Too many years running in the old Nike’s…

Did they? I’ve been running them for about 6 years now and haven’t noticed, but love’m all the same.
From softest to firmest of current models in the $125+ price point:
Nike Zoom Vomero 5
Asics Gel-Nimbus 12
Brooks Glycerin 8
New Balance 1064
Saucony ProGrid Triumph 7
Mizuno Wave Creation 11
Adidas AdiStar Ride
At $100:
Asics Gel-Cumulus 12
Brooks Ghost 3
Saucony ProGrid Ride 3
Adidas Supernova Glide 3
New Balance 759
Nike Air Max Moto
Mizuno Wave Rider 13
In the sub $100 category, you’re pretty much talking the Brooks Launch and the Nike Air Pegasus 27.
Now, none of them will be as soft as the Vomero 2 (softest shoe Runner’s World has ever lab-tested.) But the new ones are close, and will offer a bunch more durability as compared to their predecessor.
I have tried just about the most cushioned shoe of all major brands and I agree on the Vomero being very good, but I always have come back to the Asics Nimbus. Nothing beats it.
The Asics Cumulus is also soft but dont have quite as much forefoot support but costs less.

I have tried 5 of the 7 on the first list. I personally rank the Nimbus over the Vomero which feels a little “wobbly” whereas the Nimbus feels just as cushioned yet more structured at the same time if that makes any sense.

Great shoes IMHO.

Don’t get me wrong; I rank the Nimbus over the Vomero in terms of overall ride quality and fit. However, the OP asked which was softer…which the Vomero wins. The Nimbus is close, but not quite.
I am with you, for me the Vomero is just too “loose” in its softness whereas the Nimbus is soft yet supportive.
“Softest” shoe by far I’ve ever felt in hand and on foot is the Nike Lunar Rejuven8. Uses a Presto upper and Lunarlon cushioning. Its not even a debate. Might not be “enough” shoe for some people however.
