Yeah, I know it is a weird question. But I am building a human powered vehicle (hpv) for a senior engineering project. Our goal is to break 50mph, so we are going to custom machine either a 67 or 68t chainring to achieve that possibility. The only problem is trying to grunt that thing at lower speeds and around corners. So I figured a 3-speed hub would be a simple fix to avoid machining a 2nd huge chainring and worrying about derailleur issues. I’m looking for the lightest, smoothest (least possible bearing drag), and it needs to be a non-coaster/drum break hub. Any ideas?
probably a rohloff, or a nuvinci…maybe an alfina???

check those out. we used to build up some super funky, super high end bikes at the shop I worked at witht these.
