What I have noticed . . . Ritter Sport is delicious!

Is this tri-related? Uh . . .
Is it at least as tasty as Nutella? Yes!

I assume Herbert wrote the Ritter Sport review. Their chocolate bars are delicious–all of them. Personally, I favor the straight Alpenmilch, the yoghurt, or the Biscuit. Plus, with “Sport” in the name, they must be healthy.

They are much easier to find in the US now, at about $3/bar–Trader Joes has them for sure, as do (I think) Giant, Balducci’s, even some Roundy’s stores.

Yes, and they have been available for many years in the states, I love dark chocolate with hazelnuts and finished one today, mmm mmm
.

There is nothing better than Ritter Sport with hazelnuts. So so good.
Mix with a slice of orange or apple and it’s golden.

And you will get lean and healthy, too:

I once tore a sidewall in my tire and was able to stop the tube bulging through the rip using a folded Ritter Sport wrapper I found at the road side. It got me home without having to get in the bad books by making an SOS call on the mobile.

Hooray for Ritter Sport!

Tri-related is a relative term indeed.

The feature is called What we Have Noticed and I believe by adding slightly unexpected items to the feature that it keeps it interesting. Plus it is really my column, so I kind of get to do what I want.

Now this is the kind of sport food I can get into

I wonder if my local Walgreens has it; the store has a surprisingly good variety of chocolates.

Stuff isnt cheap though.

My favorite is the Rum Rasin. Anybody know where to get it? I had to pay $20 for 4 bars last time I got some.

It is over here.

Wait until you try the Lindt stuff though. Confectionary crack cocaine.

I recommend the cornflake Ritter for breakfast. Deliciously crunchy!

Is that your candy drawer??? Wouldn’t last 2 days in my house… I have to parcel the crack out slowly

To add insult to injury, they have ever changing seasonal flavors in Germany. When I was there last fall, I got one bar of the summer flavor. That stracciatella flavor (like Gelato) was so very good, the two Christmas flavors they had on the shelf were very good too. The highlight though was going through the shop next to the Ritter Sport headquarters (short drive South of Stuttgart, btw), where they had the shelf with “irregulars”. Same as with clothes, it’s fine but not within quality control parameters. That was some of the best, freshest Marzipan chocolate I have ever had.

The picture in the link below was an advertisement outside their HQ building. The text reads: “Our contribution against one-sided nutrition”, and in small print pointing that they offer 24 different flavors.

It is, plus you can’t see how deep it is. Plus chocolate bars are typically stacked 5 or 6 tall.

Since Target started carrying it it’s been reasonably priced - $1.99 a bar.

My recommendations is to make friends in Europe and swap cool stuff. They send you Ritter Sport and you send something they desire in exchange. Bars like this on sale will often sell for Euro .59 in all kinds of super markets.

Rum Raisin might not come here easily because of the alcohol implications, but you are right, it is delicious.

A parcel from Germany to the USA is 16,90 Euro (weight limit 2 kg).
So who wants Ritter Sport or Milka (the better chocolate) or world famous Lebkuchen from Nuremberg and will send me something I want from the USA?

Frank

Frank,

What would you like? I’m up for it but I of course have no idea about what can be sent legally or be complicated.

Man! That’s a lot of Euro snacks! Was the photo taken at your home in US or Germany?

In the USA. My mom sends me care packages regularly, making all my neighbors happy.
