I last bought a bike 9 years ago. At the time, Cervelo was the most popular bike brand, the talk of all of Slowtwitch.
I thought it time that I purchase a new bike. I went to the website CompetitiveCyclist where I last purchased my bike, and they don’t even sell the brand anymore. What came of Cervelo? They no longer seem to be what they once were? People don’t talk about them like they once did. No top tier Pro cycling team rides them anymore. No top triathlete.
So if Cervelo is no longer at the top, what brands should I look at?

Do you think that top tier Pro cycling teams or top triathletes ride the bikes they do, because they’ve done a rigorous analysis and determined that brand to be the best there is? Or is it because the brand pays them to ride them?

With all due respect, I think your response proves the reason behind my question.
Cervelo were the first big brand mass produced aero bikes.
Now you can get the same from almost every bike manufacturer.
Cervelo found that market, and everyone else moved in. They are still there but they only have a piece of the pie. (That piece may be as big or bigger than the entire pie was 10 years ago however.)

-As pointed out, cervelo no longer allows on-line sales. (that was around 5 years ago)
-They still sponsor top tier teams that are good enough to compete in the TdF.
-All wind tunnel tests by other brands are still trying to use Cervelo as their benchmark to beat.
Cervelo hasn’t gone anywhere. The rest of the industry is doing well to compete directly with Cervelo and Cervelo still wins in ever bike count contest in Kona;).

Not really…Cervelo made some horrendous choices re: sponsorships and the company paid the price.
Their decision to become title sponsor of the Cervelo Test Team was ill-fated, at best, and it really put a financial squeeze on the company. They eventually sold to PON, who are the new owners.
They still make some of the best bikes in the business, but they are much more frugal with their sponsorship dollars.

Hence dropping One Pro to help boost Dimension Data into World Tour. Suspect we’ll see a lot more road wins for them now (there had better be or Cav is going to be in trouble).
So what bike did you purchase 9 years before and what new of a kind are you looking for?
I bought a Cervelo P3 9 years ago. And also a Cervelo Carbon Soloist (which Cervelo since replaced when the frame cracked with an S2). What are your recommendations for a new bike?
(Putting aside the decision not sponsor teams, Cervelo’s decision not to sell bikes online in this day and age just seems like a very bad business decision)
The road ore tt bike isn’t reinvented in total since then, but the frames got lighter, more stable, smoother, more aero and faster. I switched from a 2008 SLC to a 2015 S5 and rode as much as never before this year … oSo >> So maybe a S3/S5 ore new P3 will thrill you …
You can still find Cervelo online. Nytro offers them and a few other stores.
I must admit, however, though I loved my bikes for almost a decade, the fact that Cervelo does not really offer online purchases, does not really sponsor top athletes (however much emphasis you want to place on that - I personally value knowing that a top tier athlete is using the same bike because it reduces my risk that I am buying something worthy of a pro athelete (whether paid to ride it or not) - and you don’t hear about them as much makes me question whether Cervelo bikes and/or the company is still top notch.
Some brands can only be purchased in house, Cervelo is one of those brands. I believe Felt is another. I expect there may a loophole in there somewhere that stores take advantage of.

What are your recommendations for bikes?
Cervelo dropped some of their mail order / online accounts to focus on the LBS channel, where you can get service, fittings and expert advice. Specialized does not sell their bikes online, nor does Trek, but I don’t see you questioning whether they are still “top notch”.
As others have noted, Cervelo is sponsoring Dimension Data this year, which has movedd up to a World Tour team, and has Mark Cavendish on its roster. Perhaps you have heard of Frederik Van Lierde…he won a little triathlon in Kona aboard a Cervelo in 2013. How about Caroline Steffan or Rachel Joyce?
