What happened to Cane Creek Wheels?

I’m a big fan of all their stuff and just went over to find the website has been updated with standard wheelsets nowhere to be found (just track wheelsets)
http://www.canecreek.com/

It looks like they are clearing out all their old models. Are they getting out of the wheel business? Why keep making track wheels then? Anybody got some insight?

Sweet

damn, that’s too bad. i train on cane creek wheels and love them!
i know they used to buy carbon rims from zipp and badge them as their own built up with their hubs. maybe it became too cost prohibitive and they abandoned it?
but i agree, pulling out of the road wheel business all together is a curious move…

Cane Creek will only be making track wheels for the next year. There was a blurb on cyclingnews.com about them pulling out of the wheel market. I love their stuff, but the wheel market is so flooded they probably did the right thing by focusing resources else where in the company.

If you’re looking to get a pair of Strados Road Wheels, check out Sierra Trading Post

Set of Strados going for $199.95.
FWIW, I have them on my road and tri bike, and love them.

That seems like a good deal. What is the difference between the Strados and Volos wheels?

Also, with Cane Creek no longer building road wheels, what are the odds of me getting ceramic bearings for my Aros wheels?
