What FTP would one need to ride 2:30 flat at BSLT 70.3

Never asked a question like this on ST, but thats my goal a 2:30 split at Buffalo. What sort of FTP would I need to get in order to pull this off assuming bike fit is good. at 174-177lbs and 6’3. THanks

I don’t know what the FTP would be but that bike course is deceivingly tough. It isn’t like a normal hilly race as there are canyons so instead of pushing uphill then carrying that speed into the flats you are carrying the speed into the bottom of the canyon then having to build back into the flats. That and it is usually pretty windy and hot but it’s a great race. I recommend it.

Like he said the course is deceptively difficult. there are 8 climbs and you can’t carry speed from a decent into any of them.
They very from 1/4mi to 1.2mi long and vary in grade. the shortest is the steepest and the longest
is the least steep. If it will give you any idea to work from I am 6" 160-163lbs at age 59 I had a bike split of
2:53. Maybe I’ll see you there as you pass me because us old farts usually start after the pros.
Good Luck at BSLT it’s a great race I’ve done it 7 out of the last 8yrs
