Is there a maaco for bikes. some of these bikes are just ugly, such as:
P4 - only black, hey the Model T died a long time ago, white, silver, gold, yellow, red, etc
Giant Trinity - boring
QR CD 0.1 - green & yellow, what were you thinking
Scott plasmas - talk about a retro paint job,
Perhaps you have even better nominees for most ugly sold bike.
Trek in their Project One charges from $0 to about $600 for custom paint jobs. This would be idea
and I am surprised more have not picked on on the idea. But what if either already have a bike,
or want to buy some other manu’s ugly bike.
i think all those bikes are quite nice looking. i’d be proud to be seen aboard any of them. that said, look at our review of the equinox ttx by trek. the project one process should do what you want at a more than fair, really even pretty cheap, upcharge.
You must have missed the comment that it was playing with the project one options that gave me the idea. I was looking at P1 and had two color schemes to choose from. My problem is two fold now: 1) will speed concept fall under project one, if so, problem solved, and 2) will speed concept be available in volume by this fall. I can wait til fall, but don’t want to wait past then and I don’t care for the color scheme on the trinity advanced or the P4 The only other exciting options.
I have been riding Bianchi bikes since mid 90’s and Celeste is my favorite color. I don’t know what Bianchi was thinking when they introduced Battle Ship grey as the color choice for the 2010 Crono D2 Carbon TT bike:
Straight up black is a great choice for a bike. You should never ride a bike with more than two colors on the frame unless you have ovaries and a fondness for rose wines.
That thing is pretty ugly. The massive logos on the cranks and wheels aren’t helping. I rode the celeste version last year and loved the ride. I’m glad I got a 2009 before they changed the color. Just ordered my 928SL last week, can’t wait for it arrive.
It would be even nicer if you could also change the black color on the frame. The wheels stink. You would think for project one you would have an option for all black or all one color wheels. Picture the same bike with all lime wheels, all black or if want super busy: the same three colors on the wheels. It may make for a great nascar bike, but does not make for an aesthetic bike.
