I have also learned that I need to give in to those cravings every now and then or else it’s worse when I finally break down. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with having a treat now and then. I just make sure that it’s something that I really want as opposed to whatever happens to be sitting in front of me.
If I start craving weird stuff, that generally means I’m getting lean. I prefer to be lean, so while I’ll still indulge, I just won’t crazy. Get the caramel machiatto, but ask for it in a short cup (the 8oz size that isn’t listed on the menu).
Why the question? If it feels good, do it.
I found out something tragic last year. I didn’t eat any ice cream for 364 days because I wanted to get my body fat back under 10%. Then, on the day after my annual new year’s eve workout (10K swim, 100M bike, 10M run) I always pig out. So I ate a quart of Haagen Däaz and I was sick for two days. I’ve developed an alergy to ice cream!!!
Basically, my philosophy is that if I eat enough (±22000 Kc/day*) my body will not feel the need to store any fat and will learn to discriminate the good calories from the bad ones and just pass the bad calories without processing them. So far it’s working pretty well.
It’s the Christmas season and a lot of my clients bring me treats. This morning I had some cream filled pinafores, a blueberry scone and I just opened a bag of Ghirardelli chocolate.

That’s exactly how I am and is where I am at right now. I am going to get a tall this afternoon (the short won’t do, hehe). But…I would usually get the grande, so it’s a step in the right direction!!!
