So I’ve used bandaides for running races which was fine but not really applicable when you have a swim course. Pretty sure the pros don’t use bandaides so what do the pros use to protect their nips?
I haven’t had an issue with nipples since tech shirts came out ~20 years ago.
Now, running a marathon in a cotton t-shirt was a different story. I remember hordes of men & women crossing the line with bloody stains down the front of their shirts…
After years of this my nipples are like leather. My taint, too.
Never thought that typing that would give me a sense of pride.
Come on now…how about yourself then…what do you use? I have tech shirts that work just fine until about mile 8 on just a run…or about mile 5 or 6 off the bike. Vaseline?
That’s my point…I don’t need anything these days because of callouses.
Back in the day, though, my go to was chamois cream. A little dab will do ya.
A piece of kensio tape over nip does the trick over an IM distance.
Any color will do.
I just cut holes in my shirts for around my nips - set those babies free…
You guys never heard of body glide?
I use nip guards… They stay on much better then band-aids
small piece of duct tape…but for running only, no issues in tris with tighter fitting clothing

Not a pro, but I’ve used “dot band-aids” and Liquid Band-aids. With the liquid, I would apply several layer over my nipples.

I only have this problem when I’m out of shape. When I’m at or near race weight there’s no moobs and thus no jiggling.
Pros generally dont use anything, as the problem you describe is mostly an amateur thing.
For the last 8 years or so a compression shirt was all that was needed. For some reason this year I ended up getting some nip burn on a longer run even with the compression shirt. Maybe it was just because it was so hot and humid and it was a two hour run. Anyway now I double up with a swim of body glide and compression shirt. No problems since.
kinesio tape (when I need it, which is not very often).
I spray a bit of TRI slide on them during the hot months. Seems to work for me.
Honestly even at 70.3 I haven’t needed anything for that particular location. And I don’t even wear a bra under my tri suit (no, I’m not a dude). This from someone who liberally applies chamois butter and body glide pretty much everywhere else.
I think pros don’t have much of a problem because they are wearing very tight fitting shirts which don’t seem to rub as much. Women tend to have fewer issues with bloody nipples because of the tight fitting sports bra that doesn’t really move or rub while you’re running, but rather stays in place on your torso. So I’d say body glide them in T2 or get some tighter gear.

That’s what I use too, no problems with them not staying on.
