What do GM and the Muslim apologist who beheaded his wife have in common?

Same PR advisor, would be my guess.

This oughta soothe those jittery shareholders looking for the light at the end of the tunnel:

****GM, Segway team up on 200-mpg 2-seater

By James R. Healey, USA TODAY

General Motors (GM) is teaming with Segway, the scooter company, to develop a battery-powered vehicle to cut urban congestion and pollution.
The companies plan to announce the partnership Tuesday in New York, where they are testing a prototype of the partially enclosed, two-seat, two-wheel scooter. The venture is called Project PUMA, for Personal Urban Mobility and Accessibility.

etc., etc.

Gee, no one could have seen that coming

a wheelchair that gets 200 mpg.

Behold, the future…

Behold, the future…

Just showed it to my 9 year-old without any comment other than “hey honey, what do you think of this”?

Her response, “Well, that doesn’t look very safe”!

Out of the mouths of babes…

I’m not going to really slam this because it probably has a market similar to NAV’s. What makes it so predictable and a tad scary is the fact that it’s highly likely being driven out of fear of losing governmental financing…and or their jobs

I really hope that Ford actually comes out with an excellent competitor to the Volt. I’m not a Ford fan but I would LOVE to own a vehicle that ran 40-60 miles on electric and then kicked in on gas over that. It would cover 90% of my driving on a daily basis and cost me around half per mile on fuel…fuel which I could generate myself.

Edit to add: Out of principle I can’t ever buy another Chrysler or GM vehicle until they pay every red cent back.

The article I read on the PUMA said they were targeting city dwellers in China and India. It’s supposed to compete with the Tata Nano in replacing bicycles as transportation in developing nations. I don’t know if that will work as it will cost about three times as much, but does get much better miliage.

GM said that Americans will never go for it.

that’s hot!

Can you get an optional tow package?

Oh great more Segway shit. Over complicated and incredibly expensive.

No joke, I was in Reagan National a few weeks ago and a dude pulls up to the Mc.E.Dees with a Segwey, right up to the counter, no dismount! WTF! Can you really gate check one of those, are you that lazy. From what I could tell, not an employee.

Worst use of a Seway since the Segway tours in SF, can you say DISASTER!

take a segway

put a third wheel on it

bam now you don’t need any of the fancy electronics or computers, and you don’t waste energy balancing itself.

im a genius send me money

My answer to the Segway! Bicycles!

Be grateful for the twenty toes it already holds.

I’m not slamming the product, only the timing. The nation is frantically groping GM’s pale blue corpse for a pulse, and this is what they offer up as proof of life? I’m sure it has a market somewhere, but this isn’t the flash of brilliance we’ve been waiting for.

I suppose they could’ve done worse. At least they didn’t announce a GM-Deloran merger, or unveil a new partnership with Beanie Baby, LLC.

I’m going with one of those 4 seater golf carts you see moving fatties around resorts.

Behold, your dream vehicle.

Powered by “power grid, mini-generator, metal-air battery, solar film panel and human power”. It’s able to go ATV or highway speeds. Price? MSRP at 16k IIRC. Will be out this Fall. :stuck_out_tongue:

This has your name written all over it. Largest carbon footprint in its class, 3-4mpg, runs on liquified polar bear meat.

Probably seemed like a good idea at the time… http://www.clubplanet.com/news/blogpics/urban%20sombrero%20thumb.jpg

The real problem with this is that, once again, they got their butts kicked by Toyota. Here is a pick of Toyota’s “chair car” — circa 2007.
