Trying to figure this out but not seeing enough detail on Cervelo’s website or in reviews etc. I have an inbound P5 set up with DA 9200 (so currently 24mm spindle) but would like to replace crankset with power meter. Would a 30mm crank spindle work with the appropriate BB? Any help would be appreciated!
P5D will take the 24 or the 30 with proper BB.
Stock Shimano is 24

As above you just need the right BB. This is a BBRight bottom bracket with the proper bearing ID for 24, DUB or 30mm spindle.
I do not believe the P5D is a BBRight. I could be wrong, but don’t believe it is.

It is BB Right. I have a P5D and use a Bbinfinite BB Right module to run a sram Quarq.
Thx for clarifying. I have 2. One I use the 24. The other I use a 30.
Didn’t think was the BBRight still. Thx again
Awesome, thanks everyone.
I guess my follow-up question is: is a 30mm spindle sufficiently stronger and lighter than the 24mm that it makes sense for me to shelve the 24mm Ceramicspeed BB that it comes with and get a new one for 30mm?
30mm spindle is lighter because it has sufficient diameter to be made of aluminium where 24mm has to be steel.
While a ceramic BB is only a miniscule advantage over quality steel bearings, it’s a shame to take out such a good BB.
24mm powermeter options
Rotor Aldhu 24 with inspider
SRM Origin
Quarq Dzero spider mounted on a different crank like Zele or Croder
That’s what I did on mine. Kept the 24. Used ALDHU 155s with Power2Max PM.
The other was a fresh build so ceramic speed BB with 30mm ALDHU Carbon 155s with aero spider, non PM. Have power pedals on that one.
A BB30 will not fit.
If you want a 30mm spindle you’ll need a BB386 or Rotor 3D+
BB30 only exludes a few, mostly discontinued cranks (Cannondale, old Sram, S-Works). I don’t think anyone makes a BB30 crank anymore?
Everything else from the usual brands will fit (Sram DUB, Vison/FSA, Rotor, THM, Easton, Hope, etc.).
True. There are no new BB30 cranks anymore.
If was confusing because you said “you’ll need a BB386 or Rotor 3D+” but all other common standards (except BB30) work. You don’t need a BB386 specifically and Rotor 3D isn’t a spindle standard.
Ok I’ll take down what i wrote
Since he specifically asked about 30mm spindles i suggested 2 that could be bought aftermarket that would work.
I’ll refrain from helping anyone from now on.

Not my intention to discourage you from helping. I was just trying to clear up confusion for the person asking, so they don’t “need” to limit themselves to a couple cranks when there are many good ones out there.
“Sram DUB, Vison/FSA, Rotor, THM, Easton, Hope, etc”
The original intent was to make sure the OP didn’t get a straight up BB30 but since you suggested these:
Sram DUB is 29mm, it’s close but not 30mm and that’s why I didn’t include it.
Vison/FSA is BB386
Rotor, there are few so you got me there but they are mostly 92mm length.
THM Clavicula, Really? The crankset itself is well over $1K.
Easton EA90 follows the BB386 standard.
Hope really doesn’t make a road crank, according to their website they make a gravel/road which is really a gravel and their shortest crank is a 170 in that version. Probably not something you’d put on a P5.
You’re not going to find an aftermarket BB30a or BBright Powermeter that’s feasible. At least I haven’t seen one and who would want to limit themselves to an odd standard.
etc what else is a 30mm that the OP wanted? I suppose you could pick up Cane Creek and Praxis.
I’m just thinking about Rotor. The Power2Max spider + Rotor crank arms (alloy in 24mm or carbon in 30mm) seem like the best bet (for a non-Quarq PM + crank arms combo, at least. And I can’t do Quarq because they haven’t updated their spider for 9200 yet).
It’s unlikely Quarq will ever update the spider to the 9200 design since it’s owned by Sram.
But it works fine, anyway. You can use the 9200 rings on the quarq spider, the shaping just won’t match perfectly. There are a lot of people running this setup already.
I’m taking the opposite view on that. I realize there’s the recent Hammerhead Karoo spat—but they also designed the current one to fit like a glove with the 9100 series so they’ve clearly made concessions to get their parts on Shimano equipped bikes before, and I reckon they’ll continue to do so.
It’s also arguably not even a Shimano specific move—just make it a perfect round circle spider like the old Elsa was and it works just fine (and will match the entire rest of the PM crank spider universe).
I think we actually had this conversation before, after which I gave it a go. You really have to force it into position—it’s not a smooth match just with a little extra flair from that curl on the spider that no longer makes sense. I didn’t love that so I didn’t end up rocking that set up (but I can also see someone else saying ah that’s not a big deal). I’m more than a little OCD about these things, lol.
