thanks to the people who responded to my firs post, being new all help is appreciated. hope to join you guys on a course soon. but once again to people who are familiar with the LA, CA area. what bike shop do you guys recomend and who is the best fitter in the la area? i have been going to helnes cycles in santa monica. is that a good place? all help would be appreciated.
It might be worth a drive down to Edge Cyclesports in Orange County (Laguna Hills), where the 405 and 5 freeways meet. www.edgecyclesports.net Hank or Mark can help you out with almost anything.
I was just out in LA last month…I discovered Velo Cycles in Pasadena.
Nice shop.
They stocked some serious bikes, Colnago,Isaac,Felt, and some tri-bikes too.
Good source for Tri clothing and aero wheels.
My only concern is if they are capable of a good tri fit.
They’re on Colorado Blvd just east of Sierra Madre Blvd.
I bought my bike at the Velo Pasadena store. It’s a really good shop. I believe the guy who owns the shop used to race professionally. I’ve been to several others in the LA area. I hear good things about Helens, but have never used them personally.
In regards to bike fitting etc. I dont think they have a true specialist there but the guy who sold me my bike just went 10:49 at IMBrasil and is really knowledgeable about IM racing and tris in general. He wouldn’t put you on anything that didnt work for you.
If you dont mind going up to Pasadena (I have no choice because I go to school there) its a great shop. I believe the actual cross street is Virginia Ave and Colorado if you want to mapquest it.
