butterscotch is the old-school version of salted caramel, as there tends to be more salt than you’d expect to set off the flavor.

I LOVE butterscotch!! It is a very underused chip in the sweet treat world. Cookies, scones, and a weird one is called a butterscotch haystack. It’s literally store bought canned crispy chow mein noodles covered in melted butterscotch chips and spooned onto wax paper to harden. SO GOOD!! Going to have to get some butterscotch chips soon!!
