What are the best cycling shorts

what do you find most comfortable, also, what comes in white?

Lee jeans cut off about four inches below the front pockets. With stringy threads left intact.

They’re very tri and comfy.

Pearl Izumi definitely.

White shorts would probably show your privates.

What’s the best anything? The “Best” is always a personal choice.

I like Zoot 8" tri-shorts. Are they the best? For me maybe.

White cycling shorts are stupid.

Assos. just tri one ride…

Assos LOL what a name for bike shorts

Assos and Campagnolo are my two favorites.

For me it is without a question Assos T FI. 13. Expensive but worth every penny.

How do you know a good cycling short? When after 5 1/2 hours in the saddle you realize you never wasted even one thought about how your backside feels. That was my experience after my first ride in the Assos T FI. 13.

Having said that I have also been very happy with desoto products in when racing tri. Like most pure cycling shorts Assos are not great to run in.

BTW, they also have a white(front)/black(rear) color scheme available.

I agree with the other that Assos are the best. I used PI microsensor, but purchased a pair of F.Mille shorts and have to admit that they are much more comfortable. The only problem is now that I am stuck with having to buy expensive bike shorts. Reminds me of the Seinfeld where Jerry thinks that he should have the remaining first class seat because George had not experienced first class. Once you have tried them you will not want to go back.

I have a pair of Assos, I forget which ones but they were expensive. I find both my Pearl Izumi and Giodorra (however you spell) shorts to be better.

Try the DeMarchi Contour Plus Bibs. These are made by the same folks that make the Assos…the chamois is identical. They are $100 cheaper, too. The Santini Twist Gels are nice too.

white shorts are awesome, what’s stupid is wearing black shorts in FL when youre cycling on blacktop… and the black shorts dont really match your team colors, and your team insists on shorts with a crappy pad.

most comfortable, my giordana laser tenax bibs. they come in white too. Also have a pair of old pearl izumi fassa shorts that get quite a few compliments… :stuck_out_tongue: my sugoi ultimates were my faves before the gio’s

Assos…hands down…got my first pair as a gift last weekend…after almost 20 years of riding…they are by far the most comfy…now Im totally spoiled and am going to have to get more pairs…the ultrasensor Pearl Izumis are a distant second though tstill nice…For tri shorts …the new Pearl Iz. tri shorts fit really snugly and I think they are the best…the desoto power shorts are good…but Im 6’3 and a large is still WAY too long for me…

Assos are really nice, I don’t wear white sorts, so not too sure on color. Our team got Nike shorts this year (130ish$) retail. They are pretty nice as well. It kills me to spend that kind of cash, but good shorts and shoes on the bike are good places to put money. G

Sorry to nitpick, I’m a Seinfeld geek, but actually it was Elaine who Jerry relegated to the coach seats, not George.

And I’ve been debating steeping up to Assos or Castelli shorts, but most of my other shorts are Performance or Squadra cheapies and I’m worried I will never be able to go back to them after trying the good stuff. Just like you said, I don’t want to set my standards too high.

Another vote for Assos. I owned one pair and put 5000 miles on them plus numerous indoor traine session. (I know how many miles, 'cause I only own one pair of shorts… downside to spending so much… and no, i don’t wash them every time). Then they started to get a little worn. So I replaced them with a new pair of Assos (The F1.13 S2). I imagine I will put at least as many miles on them. I’ve gone down in both shorts and have run the fabric only slightly. No holes. That tells you something about quality. Plus my butt feels great. Best money you can spend. I’d rather wear them and nothing else than $250 in “evenly distributed” clothing…

BUT you really can’t run comfortably in them…

I’m curious why you don’t wash them after each ride. Don’t they get prettty funky?

Tom,

Weren’t you doing a test of biking shorts a little while back? Did I miss the results or are you still testing?
