I guess it’s put on by the Rock-n-Roll Marathon People. About the third thing on the list that it boasts having is “swim buddies”. WTF is that? Never heard of that…
You get to hang out with those cute Golden Retriever puppies from all those Disney movies. Those pesky little dogs have done everything from playing pro basketball to becoming astronauts to saving Santa Claus. Apparently, they now swim.
It might be something else though, not quite sure.
No clue, maybe someone will swim next to you if you’re nervous in the water?
BINGO! For those new to the sport that might be anxious for their first race (for many it’s their first open water swim!!), there are volunteers that will swim alongside and provide moral support. Example: Tri Club San Diego provides swim buddies for most of the local sprint races in the San Diego area.
Someone swims near you and has a noodle or something if you freak out. Common at the races for empowering women series like Danskin.
Well that sounds like a real good deal but I don’t need a swim buddy. But maybe since this is such a high end race ($115 for a sprint) they can expand this service to have a “porta potty buddy”, someone to hold my place in line while I go warm up. That would be really nice.
