What a week for professional sports

Vino testing positive.

Vick busted for dog fighting.

Barry Bonds going for HR record.

NBA official busted for gambling.

Makes you wonder about all the stuff that took places decades ago that the media wasn’t privy to or chose not to publish.

Cheating in sports is as old as competition.

Not a good week for sports though.

Quite honestly, I could give a rat’s ass about the NBA. IMO the product has gone way downhill the last 10 years. The quality of play is terrible. You’ve got teams as bad as Cleveland in the NBA Finals. Heck in the 80’s and 90’s they wouldn’t even had made the playoffs!

I’ve never cared for David Stern and his smug attitude. I used to cringe every time he used to say something like “The NBA is the best product in professional sports”…even when every measuring statistic of the NBA suggested it was going downhill. He’s never addressed the root of it’s problems, and all he cares about is his greedy pockets.

So if this thing blows up and brings the NBA down (supposed point shaving links to players), I will not be feeling sorry for the NBA.

And what about that Colorado Rockies minor league coach who was manning first base and was killed by a line drive. He has two young kids and his wife is 6 months pregnant.

It seems a shame to include him in this thread. Sad story.

I feel sorry for them, but that is an accident. He could have died just as easily while driving to the game.

That’s quite different than ethical choices people make.

So true. I guess I was looking at it more from the perspective of “look at all the bad things that have happened in professional sports in just the last few days.” Barry Bonds, of course, has been happening for quite a while . . . . .

This week is a disaster because of all the stories listed above. How sad!

Oh, Michael Vick too.
