On my last long ride yesterday and 40 miles the rear portion of my frame cracks making the bike unrideable - this 3 weeks out from Ironman Louisville! My dealer is calling Quintana Roo on Monday but feels at best the new frame will come in 2 weeks (1 week from the event). To add to this I am 6’8" and can buy a new bike - but not many dealers in my area (Philadelphia, PA) or online seem to have size I need without it taking 2 weeks (Once again 1 week out from the event!)
If you buy a new one, I know http://www.racycles.com/ have lots of different sizes in stock, and they are really fast with the shipping. I ordered stuff and got it after 5 days, and i’m in Norway.
Hey man I feel your pain my rear derailluer hanger on my Cervelo broke on the 31st. Cervelo is going to warranty the frame but I won’t get it until Wednesday of this week. In the meantime I am riding a friends bike that has made my tendonitis flare up. Everything will be fine just go about getting your frame. You have been putting big miles in on your bike and when you get it back you won’t notice a difference.
I may be able to help. Both Kestrel and Fuji are in your back yard so you can give a call if needed. We have some great loaners that we use on our demo tour. Yell if you need me.
Had a recent frame failure with my Felt…thet sent a replacement to my LBS pretty fast. Probably 7 business days total from contact to build up. I’m sure you can either get QR to step up the shipping to next day…or pay a reasonable upcharge for the shipping. YMMV dependant if they have the frame in stock.
Thanks for all the help - I will be reaching out! While I willow in pity my 10 year old daughter had a great point, at least it did not happen on race day - rode my friends bike today and it felt very strange after riding the same set up for almost 2 years.
Tracy’s bike cracked 11 days before Ironman Canada. She had the opposite problem…trying to find a bike small enough for her. Luckily, we were able to find something through friends and ST. Bike showed up Friday, built Sunday and we left Tuesday. She rode on it three times prior to the race. She went on to get 7th and qualify for Kona. My point is don’t stress about it. You already have some very good options. Try to get your position as close as possible and you’ll be fine. Just take a deep breathe…
