Looking for a new wetsuit with a larger, less restrictive neck area, or one that does not come up so high on the neck, any suggestions?
Sailfish wetsuits have a lower neckline. I have the Attack, it is definitely cut lower than other brands I tried.
I have not worn it yet, but the Rocket Science Sports suits have a ‘tshirt’ neckline. It is a much lower neckline. Best bet is probably the middle or lower end suit as they seem pretty straightforward and ‘simple’.

desoto wetsuit tops are particularly great on this very issue. i’ve been more than pleased with it in practice…enough that i don’t grease my neck anymore when i use it, even in the ocean.

I’ve had the same experience, although no ocean swims for me here in VT.
Ditto on the DeSoto. The coldest swim I’ve had in it was The Big Kahuna where it was in the mid 50s. My tootsies were cold, but not my body.
you might want to look at the new Huub wetsuits
.
Thanks. i saw a video online recently about Huub, if only there would be a placve to find them locally in Chicago to try on!
I was told they will be available in a couple of weeks. Maybe someone locally will have them then

I am the owner and the desinger at Rocket Science Sports. We made a wetsuit change 3 years ago and lower the neckline and got rid of the hard and restrictive nepran around the neck. Our wetsuits around the neck is only 1mm and it really feels like if you wear a technical t-shirt. But also does not allow water to come in. In addition the neckline is much lower compare to our competition. With the new MOGLOCK (no Velcro on our suit) you not only feel comfortable but you also have nothing to chafe your neck.
You can see the suit features ion our YouTube Chanel.

If chaffing is the issue, developing a neutral head position in the water and rotating to breathe will make it go away, not to mention make you faster with less effort.

This entire topic is all the more reason to give Xterra Wetsuits a try. They are the only one that will allow you to wear the wetsuit and still return it for a full refund or a size exchange. Check anywhere else. Read the fine print under their warranty info. The following is from a wetsuit company that has posted in this thread.
“Wetsuits, swim skins and race suits can be return for exchange of size only with 14 days of purchase if the product is in new/original /unworn in the water condition and proof of purchase is provided and tags attached. Other swimwear is not returnable. All return are subject to inspection and approval by RSS management.”
In no way am I attacking that company…all the rest are the same except for Xterra…you wear it…you buy it. Some (Blueseventy) will allow you to send back with the tags on but will charge a 20% restock fee…ridiculous! I’ll restock wetsuits all day for 20% fee…their average suit is probably near $500.00
With so much riding on wetsuit fit, why would you not give Xterra Wetsuits a try. They make extremely high quality suits at prices people getting into the sport can afford. You are welcome to use pro discount code of SA-JPAUL for newly increased 60% off savings. They are also offering free shipping right now. With the discount you can get a Vector Pro full-suit that has 5 mm max allowable neoprene (which most wetsuits now have). What separates the Vector Pro from others in that price range is the arms are constructed of 6 different pieces of material. When I do long swims in mine my arms thank me for this You’ll also notice the collar is low to prevent neck restriction. Really you don’t have to take my word on these…order one and return it if you don’t like it. Xterra is the only company that will give you that chance.
