*Wetsuit cheaters Kona Ironman*

It is with a sad, mostly mad heart I post this. Quick backstory, I volunteer at swim exit-bag grab when not competing. Needed to take a wee during duties went to mens change tent still full of athletes. What do we find in the loo?? not 1, not 2 but THREE wetsuits in form of floatie pants. Was blown away. Both in the same loo. How many more did we not see? This is such BS and shameful cheating triathletes. Anyone see more?, women’s tents??
They were size small and XS no distinguishing marks other than shit and piss. Pictures to post as well. They were fished out by a gloved hand and apparently more found. I know there is no way of outing these bozos but if they can know their actions are as disgusting as the final repose of their cheating. SHAME ON you…whomever you are…
Anyone have a connect with WTC course referees ?? Riccitelo??

What surprises me most about stories like this is not that it is happening. Rather, that people are surprised that it goes on.

Of course I work in fraud and compliance and deal with cheating, lying, stealing etc. almost daily.

I’m sure that bloke over at marathoninvesitgations could figure it out!

Serial number on the tag of the shorts, email the manufacturer!

why would they need to drop it in the loo… maybe because I have no idea what T1 looks like in an event of that magnitude, but I guess you don’t stuff your gear back in your bag ? Hell I’ve always had to rack my own bike too.

Avoid getting busted.

put it under swimskin, over kit… run to bathroom before changing tent and discard floatinf shorts in bathroom, come out without swimskin on, grab your bike bag and away you go…

sad… im not a good swimmer, and never swam without a wetsuit in an iron distance event, and i swam fine at kona 2016 without it, saltwater js awesome

Triathletes are wearing these to my Master’s practice every workout of the week.

I am not surprised.

Whatever it takes in Life and Competition…

That’s right, because if you peel all that off in the change tent someone is going to see it. So in the loo, ditch the stuff. Can we have a DNA test on suits done?! Let’s go–“Dey took yer jerbs!”

Actually, I have to give credit to the 3 who wore those on account it is pretty dang sneaky & it hadn’t even occurred to me someone would do that-- if they can get away without anyone noticing it under the swim skin. I mean, it makes me wonder if on top of that, something visually risky like this–if they are doing something people can’t see period all together. Things folks do on purpose to win–geezus.

Too bad “Floatie-Pants Man” doesn’t have the same zing to it as “Finman”
.

sniff sniff

I think I smell a 'twitch hunt!

For some official or motivated person, it’d be worth viewing the swim exit footage and look for any crease/bulges on athletes thighs as they exit the water. I have to think, it’d be noticeable.

Fixed that for ya. Yeeeessssss, “motivated.”

Then again, that bulge might just turn out to be a banana.

Lol!

Do the time savings really outweigh the time to go into the porta-loos and strip them off? Still cheating, but seems like its not worth the effort.

I can’t imagine the time savings of wearing those jammers being more advantageous than time spent in a portapotty taking it off. Am I wrong?

Messed up minds…

strange.

why cheat at Kona…you made it there. what is left to prove.

makes you wonder what cheating took place to get them to Kona then.

maybe it was one of the competitors that didnt qualify. that would make me feel a little better about it.

Yeah exactly.

Probably not a whole heap. Nonsensical.

If they’d worn them and dumped them in transition maybe… I have some that I wear when I’m tried/hungover and they make a reasonable amount of difference, normally I’d be doing 100m coming in 1.18, leaving 1.30, with my fat pants I’m coming in 1.13ish.
