Not sure how many, typically we’ll see two or three circling around the orchard at night. I suspect they live in our barn, but I’m not entirely sure.
I’ve been doing this since I was a kid, from pebbles to cereal or anything else roughly the size of prey (bugs) you can toss in the air that they can lock in on. They’ll sweep down pretty close to you, within 10 feet or so.
