Rather than start with “this person who disagrees with me sucks” thread, I’m asking, is anybody surprised by anything that our new president has done? The pay freeze was the only action that I didn’t predict, but it made sense as a symbolic gesture. Any other surprises? (answer quickly, before this thread degenerates… ;).
I am suprised about who got his first interview and the freeze as well but otherwise he did exactly what he said he was going to do during his campaign so nope, no suprises.

I think the following sums up the pending legislation quite nicely:
“The magnitude of the spending bill, and its urgency, drew a swarm of lobbyists seeking money and tax breaks. The concrete and asphalt industries battled over how the government should spend billions proposed for road and bridge repairs, while dairy and beef cattle producers butted heads over talk that the government might buy up dairy cattle for slaughter to drive up depressed milk prices. Unions backed infrastructure spending. States sought budget bailouts.
“When you’ve got 800-plus billion dollars to spend, you’ll have an equal number of opinions on how it should be spent,” said Chris Galen, spokesman for the National Milk Producers Federation, the dairy industry’s main lobbying group.”
I agree with Jen…the first interview caught me by surprise. Other than that, nope.
Personally I am surprised the sun is still rising each day, lol.
He seems more tone-deaf than I expected.
I would not say that I am really surprised by any particular act, just that he seems to be making a series of rookie mistakes that show a certain level naivete or being unaware of who he is and what his critics think.
