Wedding ring: tungsten/titanium/white gold?

Go with platinum if you want a real man’s ring.

IMO real men don’t wear jewelry if they can help it.

Get titanium. It’s cheaper and durable.

Brass. That way when the marriage ends you can pound it into a cleat for your eggbeaters and wear it on the bottom of your shoe, which is the right and proper place for that symbol of eternal bondage

Best of luck to you in all seriousness.
Wow, I think Trey has some deep issues he wants to get out of his system. Go on, we all like to hear dirt.

That would be way too big a hijack.

Plain 10 or 14k gold, comfort fit. Mine’s 14k.

I don’t understand all the complaints about the “big heavy thing” on the finger. I’ve had mine for … lessee… almost 9 years now. Except for the occasional polishing every couple years or so (when I get a Round Tuit), I hardly notice it’s there.

Plus, it’s soft enough I don’t have to worry about the hospital needing special tools to remove it. And when I finally get this last 25lb off, nearly anyone can resize it for me. And, being non-ferrous, I don’t have to take it off for MRIs and the like. Not that that’s an issue for the other listed options, either.

Plain. Simple. Understated. Classic. Timeless. Like my marriage.

I wear an ancient bronze Roman ring that is pretty cool. I like to think it was found on a dead guy who was butchered fighting some cool and bloody battle. I think people used to be smaller back then.

I’ve had both Ti and Tungsten Carbide. I got the Ti first, but ended up0 losing it in lake Michigan a year after my wedding. I went with Tungsten the second time because I preferred the weight and look of a perticular ring they had at the store.

Problems with both the Ti and Tungsten are that they are difficult to cut off an injured and swelling finger - but not impossible. Also they cannot be resized, just replaced with the proper size. Not a big deal with the Ti since the rings are pretty inexpensive, but the tungsten will cost you a replacement fee (which varies).

Benefits of the Tungsten and Ti is that they donot ‘wear’. My freinds and family with gold and planium rings all talk about how worn their rings got in the first year, while both of mine look perfect (and mine get pretty abused working on machinery) not a single scratch.

Get what you want.

My ring is titanium with platinum. I’ve been very happy with it, and I got it here: http://www.titaniumstyle.com/

Platinum is nice, but it sinks pretty fast in large bodies of water :open_mouth: Just pick out whichever one will stay on your finger! Good luck!

concur. i don’t know much about Ti and Tu options but platinum from what I’ve seen is more crisp than gold and is harder.

If you are active and work with your hands, get a basic gold or simple stock band from James Avery. I have been married for ten years and am currently on band #3. I have a nice, classic yellow gold band sandwiched between two smaller white gold bands. One of James Avery’s older designs that will likely never go out of style, or availability. My current one has some dents and scratches, but will likely last a few more years. Nice in the even that you lose it too. You can go to most any Jame Avery and pick another one up…not that anyone would lose their wedding band!

Mine is titanium, plain with no pattern. I only wear a ring because the missus insisted (not as common in the UK where I come from for guys to wear them). I saw it in a shop window and really liked the color (it’s darker and smokier than white gold or platinum) and it’s also seriously light. It turned out to be way cheaper than the white gold ones I’d been looking at which was a nice side benefit. I think that there are a couple of color options for titanium as this isn’t the color of my old titanium watch.

As previously noted it can’t be resized (I don’t really see this being an issue) and it has picked up some scratches which I don’t care about (titanium does scratch but is very hard to actually damage seriously). Everyone is always amazed at how light it is.

Just get whatever you like as no-one will be that interested after the first couple of months of marriage. You’ll need your money for the other ring

I went with titanium with two strips of yellow gold. Nice light weight.

I was going to go with just a simple band but really liked the titanium when I put it on.

My husband got the tungsten. He’s an electican and installs cell towers and this works best for him. It doesn’t loose shape, doesn’t get dents or scratches. Best choice for someone who works with their hands. And I believe if it is ruined you get a new one (just because it is said to be industructable ). Just my thoughts.

simple ti rings are very inexpensive, look great, are super light and avoid the bloody legacies and enormous environmental damage of diamonds and precious metals.

Ti rings are great. Wife and I got matching Ti bands for 10 year anniv. Had them custom made by Bruce Boone at boonerings.com. He used to make Ti bike parts back in the 80’s/90’s (any of you remember the Helix BB?). We are very happy with our rings- they have an infinity pattern cnc’d around them that was then anodized blue. Very nice looking and cool symbolism as well. They were made EXACTLY as we ordered them, and we had them on our doorstep less than 1 week after ordering.
The rings are now 2 years old and still look brand new despite all of the abuse they take on a daily basis. The same definitely could not be said of my gold wedding band at 2 years.
Cheers.

Forgot to mention, the other benefit of titanium (and maybe some of the other metals but definitely not gold) is that it’s hypoallergenic so you won’t have any reaction to it if you have problems with that kind of thing.

Man, I must be on the wrong forum I thought this was ST.

Carbon Fiber: – Only $78

For what it is worth, I have a plain and simple Ti ring and love it. Yes I got it because of the connection to ti bikes. It is also very light on my finger. I do not wear a watch because the weight effects my. This was a concern when I chose my ring, which I do not notice at all. Yes resizing it is limited, but I have had no problems. The other benefit is that the Ti will not scuff as easily as a precious metal.

Thank GOD! I thought I was going to have to chime in.

Ummmmmmmmm… Heeellloooooooo! Carbon fiber please!

Ti with a platinum band through the middle. Looks Bad Ass and matches my bike.
