Waterproof band-aids

I have a toe that likes to blister. I used a band-aid (not brand name) the last couple of IM races, it stayed on, and stopped the blistering. This bandaid came out of a drawer in my house, god only knows how old it is, and I don’t know what it is. I’ve tried every other band-aid on the market, and they won’t stay on through a practice swim.

All I can say is the wrapper says “Latex”, with a circle around it and a slash through it, then TM. Obviously it is latex free, but apparently this was the brand name as well. It is possible that it is no longer made. Is anyone familiar with it with this logo?

In the absence of finding this product, I need to find a substitute. I need something about 3/4" that I can wrap around a toe and will stay through an IM. Any suggestions?

Compeed or Band-Aid Blister. Either one will stay on and even if you get a blister, you might not know it.

You want something like this:

I love these types of bandages.

Have you tried maybe applying a couple layers of the Liquid Bandage?

I’ve tried this type of bandage. They don’t stick through a swim for me. They puff up and peel off, plus they are hard to put on toes.

I’ve tried one layer of super glue without luck.

x2 - works great. I start painting the problem areas of my feet a couple days before the race.

Use some “physio tape” …it will stay on for days, even after swimming/showering.

I use gel toe caps for my big toe and one of my pinkie toes. These two always get blisters on longer runs if I don’t use them. For ironman, I changed socks in T2 and put them on then. Very fast. You could wear them on the bike as well (I do for half IMs), but I was going to change socks anyway during Ironman, so I didn’t.

Now you’ve got me curious about the liquid bandaid. Where do you get blisters on your feet that it prevents? Maybe it’ll work for me. I get a blister on the bottom of two of my little toes, and then on the side on one of my big toes… without fail… on any run over 11miles. I like the gel caps I mentioned in the post above, but they do have the disadvantage of having to put them on during T1 or T2 and rarely, (but sometimes)… they do work loose off my toe during a run.

The Band Aid tough fabric ones stay on like a barnacle - you need to forcibly remove them when you want it off.

I put one on for LP this year to protect a heel blister, and it lasted longer than I did that day.

Highly recommended. Good luck.

Huh, I’ve tried the tough fabric ones, too. They didn’t stick for swimming, and wore threadbare quickly.

Am I just applying them wrong? I’m wrapping them around the toe and overlapping the bandaid.

I’ll try the liquid bandage again.

I have until IM Fl to figure this out…
