Watermelon ... the pre race meal of choice, how about yours?

Well, like most athletes, i like to race light and know im gonna feel good during my race… i have spent years trying to find the PERFECT pre race dinner for me…ya ya ya…Pasta this, grains that…whatever.

The truth is, Watermelon is the best, BY FAR, meal before the race i have ever had…and i mean meal…what i do is eat a pretty light to normal lunch, do a light run or bike to stay somewhat light and then for dinner i have between a half to a full watermelon ( about5kg to 10kgs )…

Why i love it…it gives me ALOT of carbs…makes me not even think about food until the morning when ill have a few bananas…and it gives me so much water , there is no way my body can get dehydrated lol…

So…whats the opinions here?
im not gonna change because it works well for me…having some good results with this little watermelon experiment…running very light and full of energy

anyone else have some fun pre race meals?

Ah yes, watermelon: nature’s favorite laxative.

PB&J here!!!
Does the laxative affect of a whole watermelon bother you?

How do you not get the shits by eating that much watermellon. 2 slices of a large pizza is always a good night before race meal.

Pasta in olive oil lovingly reffered to as “PENNAOIL” and cofee in morning. It slides right out. In the dash for the B room

You do know the conversion factor, right?

10kgs? BS. Even 5kgs? Still BS.

I’m putting this in the crank thread list, along with ‘whump whump, my poor penis, and aero road frame’ threads.

Go troll somewhere else.

French Fries and beer the night before. Don’t know why but it works for me.

LMAO…well i pissed someone off…Anyway for the laxative comments everyone has, i really dont get the shit mainly for one reason…

ok…the 5kg and 10kg comments are of what the WATERMELON weighs…you can take off the shell and do your own little math with it…

I eat very light the day of …the watermelon doesnt give me the shits as everypne thinks because there isnt much too clear but it makes me piss like a horse, and it does keep me light for the morning because i piss out most of the water

Eggo waffles with peanut butter, blueberries, bananas, and syrup. I travel with my toaster.

Forget watermelon for pre-race, it is great race day food. It has gotten me thru several very long days.

I find dessert, such as cake, the night before give me a great kick the next morning. Otherwise I eat pretty lightly.

3 creme brulees and 1 chocolate cake

Dude, dairy is a NO NO before a long run, or during it. I’ve witnessed the consequences. Not pretty. Luckily I never personally made that mistake.

I have not that problem, that must be unique to INFINIT users

Sorry to offend you oh so serious one. But I really do think, what should I eat that is going to go through my system the morning of a race quickly enough so when I am a hour or two into a race I do not have a problem. Or have a problem 5 minutes before a my wave and get stuck in line in front of a porta potty. been doing this for 3 years and have never had a problem before during or after a race. Was I trolling maybe you can tell me now if I was ? Should I have explained myself a little better? YES. But I had to work out, go school clothes shopping for three kids, pick the car up from the shop and feed the kids too. So also sorry if my reply was short and crass. I try to keep it light sometimes. Aint like I am posting pics of it like on other threads.

Good thing I use Accelerade then :stuck_out_tongue:

One thing I try to do is following the night-before meal and early-morning meal is take some digestive enzymes with it. I feel like it helps me to digest the food more quickly and completely so that I do not feel heavy or get cramps during the race. I use the SuperZymes digestive enzymes by Vitabase. Really good product and I would recommend it to other athletes. Check them out here if you like: http://www.vitabase.com/supplements/digestive-health/food-enzymes/default.aspx
