I have a high sweat rate. After an hour or so of running on hot days, my shoes are completely water logged. The “squishiness” is annoying and uncomfortable. I can also tell that the weight effects my stride. I overpronate and wear motion control shoes, so my choices are limited. Any advice? I am actually considering putting a second pair of shoes in my special needs bag at Louisville, as I am pretty sure the run will be hot. Thanks.
same problem here - only even moderate solution i’ve found is to use good socks - sock guy, etc.

I have the electric version, and I swear by it. My run and cycling shoes, when not being worn, are always on a boot dryer. Works great for my helmet too.
Agree. Good socks and a shoe that drains well. They are out there. I have to alternate between three pair of shoes during training because they are always wet otherwise. The old asic ds trainers would drain very well. But that is my biggest complaint of the newer models. They don’t drain but I still use them. Look for shoes that are made of more mesh material if you can run with less structure in your shoes. I find that thin socks are best for me when they are soaked.
The original shoe with drain holes in the sole was done by a shoe designer (jfor Nike, I think) who had the same issues. He drilled, yes, drilled several holes in the sole and insole of one shoe, for his next race and weighed the shoes afterward. The drilled shoe was something like 8 oz lighter (or more.) Try taking a drill to an older pair. I would drill near the midfoot and on or two up just between the ‘ball’ of the foot and the toes. Avoid the high impact areas, I would say.
Interesting idea. I’m going to try this on Sunday. Thanks.

Sole socks. On Saturday I had sweat squirting out at 11 miles but the feet were comfy for the final 5.
Please make sure you take the shoes off before drilling ![]()

I was thinking the same thing. It is better to leave nothing to chance!
