Anyone know what the average temp of the water should be in Louisville in October for Ironman? Any good website to direct me to? Thanks in advance!
here is one for starters. If you do a search there are several threads here for it.

Thanks…most threads I could find spoke about temps in August. So water should be very similar to Madison in Sept. Do you know, am I understanding correctly, Louisville starts at 7:30, but still finishes at midnight? Factor in the latest person in the water really has only roughly 15.5 to 15.75 hours to get across the finish?
I am not worried, but I can see, between the shorter race and the dirty swim, why this race takes its time to fill up. Thanks for you time!

Regarding water temp, but a little off topic, what made the water temp drop about 10 degrees this year right near where the slough joins the river? When I swam through that spot I thought there was going to be a huge difference in temp between the slough and the river and that I was underdressed. Luckily it didn’t last very long but I’m curious as to what is responsible for the effect?
Actually went for a swim in the river around the date the new IM lou is and couldnt handle the cold even with a wetsuit. Headache, frozen hands and feet. I can’t handle cold water very well…but it was rough.
Approximately what temperature was it, would you say? Low sixties?
I am happy it will be wetsuit legal.
