Anyone have an idea what the water temp is at Oak Mountain State Park? I called the park and they didn’t have a clue.

Hmmm…Hopefully a local can chime in. With 2 weeks left and warm weather likely it may not be a wetsuit legal swim.
A few years ago (2009?) it was the warmest swim I’d ever done. I think it was 89 degrees. That lake is very shallow.
But one good rainfall can drop water temps to 70 even in July. So even if you knew the temp today it wouldn’t give you any idea what it will be on race day.
It probably won’t be wetsuit-legal but bring your suit anyway. Fingers crossed that temps don’t drop at the last minute.
Isn’t there a site that will tell you the temp? Would be nice to know before getting there.
Just came from spending 3 days at Oak Mountain and I’m fairly certain that it will NOT be wetsuit legal for ITU Cross Worlds. Especially since ITU has lower water temp cutoffs.
I’d say it was in the low 70’s.
.
Doubt it. All my info is from people who live (or used to live) nearby, and previous race reports.
Anyone know how the temperature is looking for this year (2013)?
Last year it wasn’t wet suit legal, but it was a particularly hot and dry spring. This year has been significantly colder and wetter.
Thanks!
