I bought my wetsuit last year when I was around 190lbs and regular gym user. I have a Blue Seventy ML.
Having switched to endurance sports I have lost some weight, now around 180lbs.
My wetsuit obviously does not fit as snug and I notice that there seems to be a little more water inside the suit than before.
Question is, how much is too much?
When I swim and drive my hand into the water I can feel a little water push up the arm, is that normal? When I get out of the water I can feel water run down my suit and warm water escape from the leg openings, not loads but still some. Also when I stand up and walk out of the water the bottom of the legs can feel a tiny big baggy, due to the water in there. When I leave the water and the legs drain a little the suit feels tighter again.
My sizing on the Blue Seventy website say’s I am at the bottom end of the M/L, but still in the limits, and that a M/T would put me about in the middle.
So … based on the above do I need a new suit. How much will a little water effect performance?
Sounds like you need a smaller wetsuit. A little water in the suit is of course how it is designed to function. Thus a little water coming out of the legs on exit is normal. But there is no way you should feel it in your arms. Sometimes you need a smaller sized suit, sometimes you need a brand of suit that fits you better.
Shameless plug, but I am selling a Zoot Fuzion wetsuit that may fit you better depending on your height (size M/L) for $125 in the classifieds. PM me if interested.
Thanks to all for your messages. As luck would have it my wife won a new Blue Seventy as a door prize that weekend at the Oliver tri. Marvellous!
I am going for an M/T Axis and selling the M/L Reaction. I tried the M/T in the store and it seems to be a little more snug all over but retained the length in the arms and legs. The neck was a better fit too.
