Interesting investigative article that touches on access by anti-abortion proponents to the conservative members of SCOTUS.
In early June 2014, an Ohio couple who were Mr. Schenck’s star donors shared a meal with Justice Alito and his wife, Martha-Ann. A day later, Gayle Wright, one of the pair, contacted Mr. Schenck, according to an email reviewed by The Times. “Rob, if you want some interesting news please call. No emails,†she wrote.
Mr. Schenck said Mrs. Wright told him that the decision would be favorable to Hobby Lobby, and that Justice Alito had written the majority opinion. Three weeks later, that’s exactly what happened. The court ruled, in a 5-4 vote, that requiring family-owned corporations to pay for insurance covering contraception violated their religious freedoms.
This is not some third hand information. Someone is admitting that they were leaked a SCOTUS decision weeks in advance, most likely by Alito. I am sure the SOTUS justices appreciate you trying to undermine a damaging story that undermines the legitimacy of the court.
It is not like the women did not have connections directly to Alito. The decision that was leaked, she was in seats reserved for Alito’s guests during oral arguments.
This story details the way that many justices mingled with people lobbying the court and how groups made specific plans to get access for their preferred policies.
Not to mention Alito claimed this year that leaked decisions put justices lives at risk, so maybe he should resign for putting lives at risk? Or was that all bullshit, but then shouldn’t he resign because how can you trust someone lying about that?
