War paint

After a race, when you get home, do you shower and scrub like crazy to get your body markings off, or do you just let them fade on their own, perhaps wearing them with pride and explaining why you have them when people notice and ask?

Don’t be a Fred…wash them off…hehehhheee…except if the markngs are from an IM…

Touch them up with a magic marker, and then make sure they fade evenly over the rest of the week.

I was actually thinking of using another color and adding a drop shadow. I’d pick a color that compliments my eyes or hair. Of course, it’d also have to work with my skin tone!

I luv it.

From your previous posts, I had always assumed you were a guy, but now I see I was wrong. So my advice would be to leave it on and wear skirts to work the following week.

By the end of the race, mine are pretty much gone anyway, is it the neoprene?

No. My post was wrong… so wrong!

About the most feminine thing I’ve done is paint my wife’s toenails when she was pregnant because she couldn’t reach them.

The last time I didn’t get that number off my arm right away, I got enough sun that I had that number for weeks, in the form of a tan line. It was kind of geeky, and being that I am usually the one who razzes my training partners about helmet numbers still on the helmet the Wednesday after the race, I got a raft of shit I could have floated across an ocean on for my negligence. My wife did Hawaii in 2001, and had 667 burned on her arm for about 3 months (not enough sunscreen, I guess). She felt pretty geeky too, but if they gave her #666, which I don’t think they give to anyone (the person on the program in front of her had #665), now that would have been cool!

Too funny!

I caught my daughter using a marker to put hers back on. Kids will be kids.

My favorite is the opportunity we have on the way back home.

The numbers quite often prompt a question from older folks at a gas station or fast food spot which then results in a wide eyed, tilted head, tongue wagging… "Oh lady…I just got out this morning and the guards forgot to take these off…whatcha doin later???

They just can’t back up fast enough

I consider the toe nail polish my war paint. Gotta have them all nice and colorful the night before race day.

Numbers, I wash off in the shower after the race. Shower gel and a net sponge works sooo much better for than than just soap and washcloth.

I am inclined to touch them up too but I haven’t yet. I like the weird looks from my coworkers.
