Wanted: Swim shorts I can wear in public

So the wife is telling me it’s time to give up the speedo when I’m at the community pool. Apparently we know too many people now. I’m looking for suggestions on a pair of swim shorts that are sleek, no pockets and meant for swimming without being skin tight. Suggestions?

dolfin uglies. swimoutlet.com carries them.

i don’t think you are better off in those than a speedo. unless you are trying to match a pink unicorn tramp stamp.

Just go in a pair Nike Drifit running shorts.

I just went back to the speedo this year. We’re taking it back.

Whats she afraid of?

the speedo is where it’s at… don’t be ashamed

Get a pair of long boardshorts.

Should be able to get a pocketless pair … or one very unobtrusive rear pocket.

Here is a link to one brand:

LOL! My wife told me the exact same thing. I’m thinking about sporting some jammers.

definitely go with the jammers. or, some 3-4" inseam run shorts with no pockets should work well. however, getting out of the pool with run shorts is usually more revealing than the jammers.
wear some jammers and have the board shorts at your chair so you can throw em on afterwards!

I’m with you. In fact, I actually feel more comfortable in speedos than jammers. The former is classic. People can snub their noses but they can’t change history. The latter makes me feel like I’m trying to hide something…but nothing is being hidden so I just end up feeling stupid. I do throw on a pair of board shorts if I’m hanging around or swimming with the kiddos though.

How about a pair of clunky training briefs rather than speedos. Nearly all the speed but vanity friendly.

you could always go this route.

Wear a pair of jammers a size to big (still tight) Put a pair of gym shorts on over them walk to the pool take off the gym shorts, swim, get out put on the gym shorts. I wear the jammers anywhere in the pool area.
How did we get to the point that we feel funny wearing the correct workout gear. Even on Slowtwitch people have no problem with women wearing the tight swim stuff but men can’t. Funny world. Men and women look equally good or bad in swim wear depending on their body. Everyone should feel ok wearing swim attire and be proud that they are working out.

it’s not what you wear, it’s how you wear it.

Sorry, but when I’m at public swim time at the outdoor pool, I’m going to wear board shorts - or some stylish swim trunks. If I find myself swimming a workout in them, I just consider it resistance training.

How about putting a drag suit on over the speedo?

Stick with the speedo! If there are modesty concerns, just wear some board shorts over the speedo and leave it on the deck; put it back on b4 you get out.

It’s probably not the swimming in the speedo she doesn’t like, it’s the lounging around in it afterwards.

You might get a swimskin cheap off an IM racer ;P.

Dude, you can totally wear a Speedo anywhere. Just make sure you wax, shave, or at very least trim up high so no-one thinks he’s found Osama’s hiding spot.

You’re rockin’ the hammock around the local rec pool?..nice…Are you German? (sorry Herbert)

Seriously…Your wife’s right…Although, I think she should be the one that should go out and do the shopping for something that she likes…that will cut down on future bitching…

If it’s a community pool that keeps one lane for laps open, and you’re sneaking a workout in while the kiddies cavort…you can wear the jammers under the board shorts and discreetly disrobe before the set…

I sort of live in board shorts. If a trip to the beach or a swim workout just happens to come up, I am ready. Call me a snob but the Pataguchi ones seem to get the most wear at my house. You notice them swimming for about two days then that seems normal for swimming.
