I was wondering if there are people who want to do long rides with a potential 5 hour bike split guy in Southern Ontario? I am getting tired of doing long rides alone. I’d love to find someone around Toronto who would like to do long rides on Saturdays or Sunday. Long ride pace would be between 32 and 36kph. I’m training for IM Canada.
I’m having a hard time getting motivated riding by myself for long distances.
Ha ha… Byerley…you’re just upset I didn’t recommend contacting you!!
I’m not racing right now but I may head down to the race after my long run since it is so close to home. Looks like a warm one tomorrow.
It was a warm one.
Question: Anyone have a good strategy for decent sunscreen coverage and not reducing your race number to a grey smear on your arm? I have an oval-shaped sunburn around where my number was marked.
I may be interested in giving a test run with you but a couple of caveats come to mind:
You’d have to do most (all?) the pulling coz that’s the only way I’d last 5 hours at your pace.
I avoid routes with much car traffic. i don’t do highways or busy roads. Would much rather do multiple loops on quiet roads then encounter cars.
My habit is to drive to the Milton area for the Escarpment but am open to other low traffic areas. I also run off the bike each time.
PM if you want to chat about potential details.

I gave that exactly 2 seconds of thought. Here’s my thought process:
I have a number on a belt around my waist. A number on my bike helmet. A number on my arm. A number on my leg. A timing chip with a number around my ankle. I figure - hit that puppy with sunscreen and live with the consequences. I’d rather have a sloppy number than a sunburn.
