Just getting into all this jazz. Have been doing all my riding on a mountain bike and it’s just killin me. Have been lookin around at the various shops in Chicago & on eBay, and it’s all so expensive. I want to get something that’s worth the money, but that won’t break the bank at this point. That said, I’m looking for a solid road bike, or fairly entry level tri bike, gently used. I should ride a 56cm.
I’m a big fan of Felt road bikes, though something similar will surely work. Aero bars and clipless, along with 105 at least, preferably ultie or dura, but beggars cant be choosers.
The F5C that Tom D (bikesportmichigan) seems like a pretty good deal if you’re looking for a new bike for what you’re willing to pay.
That said, $1500 can get you a very very good bike on eBay if you’re patient. It doesn’t help that it’s the wrong season to buy a bike (best to buy a bike in winter actually), but give it a week or two for a good deal to pop up. I managed to snag a P3 myself for $1500 on eBay with a full DA build and Ksyrium Elite wheels.
Man, that’s a super deal. I’m sorta leary of spending that much on ebay, did it work out well for you?
And it sure seems like the wrong season to buy online. I’ve been hounding ebay by the minute, and there isnt much out there, but its less and less as the weeks go on. Hard part is to remain patient and hunt out that deal, while at the same time wanting a new ride now.
