Wahoo Kickr "noise" reduction . . . vibration?

So my wife doesn’t like my Wahoo Kickr nearly as well as my old Kurt Kinetic fluid trainer. She complains that she hears it in the bedroom which is at the opposite end of the house from the garage where I ride it. To the ear, the Kickr is a LOT quieter than the old Kurt Kinetic but our house is on a slab and I think maybe the higher pitch of the flywheel on the Kickr transfers through the slab? I don’t know. But she said this morning “You were doing intervals weren’t you”? Yes I was. Hmmm. My ride started at 4:30 a.m. so you can imagine she was a bit annoyed.

Anyone have this problem? I’m thinking of maybe getting a thick rubber mat to put it on to see if that will help? Thoughts?

What gear are you doing it in. I have found the larger the gear, the more noise, so tend to stick to the smallest cog at the front and the biggest at the rear.

I think that’s the key. I think she “hears” it when I am in the big ring.

But then I just saw this on the Kickr site. Evidently this is a known issue. I’m betting I don’t necessarily need the $70.00 rubber mat though.

WAHOO KICKR TRAINER FLOORMAT OVERVIEW
The Wahoo KICKR Floormat is the perfect partner for your KICKR. It’s water resistant and anti-slip to keep the trainer in place no matter how much you sweat! The thickness and material make it noise insulating, so your family will thank you during those early morning rides.

I have a thick rubber “treadmill mat” that I got on Amazon to put under my Kickr. I think it would reduce certainly reduce vibrations, I ride in my basement and don’t get complained at so maybe it helps some though I think ever person/house is pretty different in what type of noise would bother them.

This is the one I ordered, I would order it again for sure.

If you’re doing erg-mode stuff, just keep it in the small ring. The kickr gets particularly piercing when its spinning fast (fast being 35km/h or more, in my experience). Since erg mode can produce the watts pretty much no matter your speed, just do your erg rides in a lower gear.

I don’t think a mat will help (mine lives on a rubber mat on a carpet, and is still very loud). I avoid riding mine before 8am or after 9pm, to avoid pissing off my apartment neighbours.
