Wahoo Kick problem - future smart trainer puchase

I think my Wahoo Kickr v4 just died as it refuses to display power/cadence even though everything appears to be powered on and connected. I’ve tried all the obvious fixes short of physically taking it apart. If anyone has any suggestions, I’m open to trying to saving it.

I have progressively been using my trainer less and less so I’m tempted to cancel Zwift and just embrace getting older and fatter, but I kind of want to continue my 2-3 short rides a week as “maintenance.” Anyone have thoughts on replacement trainers. It looks like the Zwift Hub is only $500, a Saris H3 ~ 700, and then the Kickr and Neos are way up there at ~1200. I read DC Rainmaker’s review of the Hub and think it may be the winner, but I’m somewhat concerned about its quality given the price. Would love any insight from anyone that has bought a trainer recently.

Hav you reached out to Wahoo support? They have been great with me in the past in troubleshooting and part replacement.

Definitely contact Wahoo. I had a Kickr Core stop working last winter. It was outside the warranty period by a couple months but they replaced it with a refurbished unit at no cost to me. They could have told me to pound sand but they stepped up, and were super easy to deal with.

Yes, I contacted them and they sent me some troubleshooting advice that I had already unsuccessfully tried. I’m not really expecting them to do anything as it is a 2018 machine. I saw something online about taking it apart and cleaning some optical sensor, but that’s pretty much beyond my comfort level. My thought process now is to just buy a new trainer and wondering if there are any good deals out there at the moment. Maybe I’ll hold off until Thanksgiving/Christmas and see what deals are available then. I can always ride outside this time of year…

Would highly recommend looking around on FB marketplace/craigslist. Lots of folks selling them lightly used in my area for <$500. The REI member 20% coupon also works with Wahoo products. They just did their Q2 coupon though, so you would likely have to wait until the fall for that one…

I just saw the H3 for $650, if I was in the market I’d spend the extra $150 over the Hub.

$450 with free store pickup as supplies last.

Thanks for this info - just ordered one as my replacement!

No problem. I got an alert for it on Slickdeals. Thought about picking it up but my Tacx Vortex Smart is still going strong. Enjoy!
