Vuori brand clothing

Holy hell.

My wife bought me a pair of their shorts and t-shirt from a local surf shop yesterday (OBX). I don’t think I’ve ever worn clothing that fit or felt better in my life.

But the shorts were $75 and the shirt, not quite as much.

I feel guilty spending that much cash on threads, but it’s hard to spend half as much for trash, in comparison.

So either assuage my guilt and convince me it’s ok to splurge on designer threads or point me to a brand that’s comparable in quality but not as pricy.

My FAVORITE!!! I own pretty much every color of their joggers and have been wearing them since they were a small outfit with no retail store. They have great customer service too. The airlines ripped my bag one trip and ruined a bunch of my clothes, including a pair of Vuori joggers. Vuori sent me a replacement for free and a discount on any other stuff I wanted to order. I’m wearing a pair of their shorts right now.

I am ultra-pragmatic when it comes to clothing but getting to the point where I’ll allow myself little splurges like this. I may have opened Pandora’s Box here. If I could afford it I’d purge my closet and replace it entirely with their stuff.

I’m on my third pair of running shorts and I agree that they hold up very well - you get what you pay for.

Moreover, I have a pair of their boardshorts which are way higher quality than the normal surf brands. I beat the hell out of my boardshorts in the summer and my Vuori’s are still going strong.

Came across the brand for the first time last weekend at REI - damn nice!

I picked up a pair of shorts for casual/lounging around and they were worth the $$.

Like you, I don’t often spend more than I ‘need to’ for clothing that’ll get the job done, but every now and again it’s nice to have something a bit ‘next level’ in terms of quality/feel/fit.

My wife will tell you I have a slight boardshort problem… like an entire dresser drawer packed to the gills with them. Not really designer brands, but all “surf” brands like Quiksilver, Rip Curl, Billabong, and I don’t think I’ve ever paid over $40 for a pair - with most around $20 - either direct from the brands’ websites or from my favourite surf shops - Ross/Marshalls/TJ Max/Nordstrom Rack.

Quiksilver Highline Kaimanas are my current favourites - they fit well, solid colours, stretchy and soft/comfortable fabric.

I’ve recently bought a few items from Outerknown (Kelly Slater’s company) and the fit and quality is top notch, they’re apparently sustainably manufactured and are built sturdily enough to last a while, but I’m sure as shit not paying their regular prices. I either wait until they have a sale, or buy from Nordstrom Rack. Their blanket shirts are insanely comfortable.

I like Vuori and I think it’s worth spending the money for decent quality stuff. Their prices are consistent with Lulu, Rhone, and other higher-end “athleisure” brands.

That said, the prices are getting a little out of control for this type of casual clothing. I’m a big fan of Travis Mathew polo shirts for work but they’re like $90, and it seems like $125 is the new benchmark for the tech-khaki style pants from most brands.

I bought a couple things from a brand called Zella that I found at Nordstrom. Pretty nice stuff for significantly less than Vuori. Not sure if it’s sold anywhere else.

For shorts I like Birddogs but they have crept up in price to almost $70 now.

Fabletics has some decent stuff at good prices but it’s a little more on the gym clothes end of the spectrum than Vuori. Also you have to join their VIP club thing which doesn’t technically* cost anything but is pretty annoying. I joined for a few months, stocked up on what I needed, then canceled.

(*You have to decline the monthly offer each month, otherwise they will charge you a set amount which gets applied as credit to your account. It’s an easy click to decline but it’s annoying and you definitely get spammed with tons of email from them.)

Check out Active GearUp It’s basically an online outlet store with rotating inventory - Outerknown is a brand that shows up from time to time. I bought a short-sleeved button down from them and I agree on the quality. Lots of quality stuff: Craft, Sugoi, adidas, Louis Garneau, ASICS, etc. Free to sign up, but I will warn you that you’ll receive (at least) weekly e-mails with the current sales. I’ve picked up some really nice stuff at great prices over the years.

Yeah I’m signed up with Active, Seshday, TheClymb, LeftLane etc which I believe are all under the same umbrella. Most of the stuff I’ve gotten from them has been cycling or tri-related clothing. They never seem to have my size in the Outerknown stuff though.

$75 is not a lot of money to spend on a quality clothing item. Buying cheap means buying twice or more. I’d rather spend a lot and wear it several years then try to save 50€ and end up with garbage. And it’s better for the environment.

The quality is great. I have some joggers that are probably 7 years old and still look new.

i have a few pairs of their Trail shorts for running in and slightly longer Kore shorts for the gym. Best i own, and all doing ok after loads of use. if i had to find a fault with the Trail shorts it is that they hold a lot of sweat when i go running on hot humid days - compared to the lighter desoto equivalents.

I bought mine in sales so didn’t pay full price - but finding anything on sale is super difficult now and wouldn’t have an issue paying full price as i know they are comfortable, fit well and will last ages.

if you buy from the website they will bombard you with ads - more than most.

No help here. I love their stuff. You might try Freefly which I find to be similar in quality and maybe a tad less pricy.

Agree 99% here. You havent yet tried Voormi yet. Best pullovers / Jackets / outdoor stuff on the market right now.

Like Kuhl, 10 years ago before getting acquired by PE they made amazing stuff. Now it is Carhart level stiff …hard pass.

You should check out nordstromrack.com.

I am always finding spectacular deals on shorts, shoes, and most recently, a pink linen suit.

Free shipping (minimum purchase required) and easy returns.

Going on two years now and they’re still by far the best active wear clothing I own. Fabric hasn’t shown a single sign of wear and they only get more comfortable with time.

Treating myself to a late father’s day gift with some online shopping…

Somehow I’ve never heard of this brand before. Looks nice, but holy hell that price tag.

My go to shorts have been Lululemon pace breakers. I wear the absolute crap out of them and have several pairs that are still going strong after 3-4 years of constant running, working out, pool days or just casual wear. Really can’t complain but I only tend to buy them on sale. $50 CAD for a pair of shorts is fine… But $100 is pretty steep…

Happy shopping!

I was in San Diego last year and I found one of the retail stores. Oh my, my credit card was tired afterwards. And now that they’ve expanded to non-workout type clothing, it’s pretty much all I wear to work when I have to go into the office.

I had been loyal to Lululemon running shorts for the last… decade I guess? Those things last forever. I WFH and have for years and have been rotating the same 4 pairs for at least 4-5 years now and they’re all still like new.

But about 5-6 months ago I had a credit at REI and didn’t really need anything so bought a pair of Vuori shorts since I had heard good things. I can’t speak for their durability just yet, but I’ve already paid cash for another pair and am probably going to get another pair or two soon so I can just replace all my Lululemon shorts. The Vuori shorts are just that damn comfortable.

Welcome to the darkside

Vuori is the only brand that I consistently find myself wearing for days. In the winter, I will put them on the joggers Friday night and only take them off each morning to run. I sleep, run errands, go to the gym, lounge in them. It’s a gross but very comfortable habit.

In the summer it’s their athletic short with the liner. I love to wear them when we travel to the lake or beach. Comfortable for driving, can go straight into the water with them, dry quickly and wear them to grill.

I refuse to purchase their shirts. I would transition completely to a slob some weekends.
