Vuka Alumina Evo extensions

had a fuji D6 with the stock profile bars, and then zipp VUka stealth, where i had the front S bend style bars tilted up to give me a more comfortable/faster postiion

Now i have a Felt IA1 with the Felt Dagger Bar, and the FElt F bend extensions, but i feel a little off in my fit with my arms essentially flat. Since i cant easily rotate the extensions up, i was looking into a differant bend

The VUka Alumina Evo Extensions seem to fit the bill, but does anybody know how to get the measurement of the angle it would put my forearms at?

Ie looking at the differance between the 70 and 110

Without knowing how much extension will be exposed from the clamp and where your elbow sits, and your aero bar dimensions (difference between pad and center of extension clamp), no one is going to be able to give you an accurate number.

If you find the Felt F bends a little bit (and not a lot) off, my advice would be to order the 70s. I have the 110s and the rise is pretty steep:

I don’t know anything about the 70 but I have the 110 extensions on a Zipp Vuka Aero base bar. The angle of you forearms will depend on the position on the pads. Mine is somewhere between 10 and 15 degrees. Here’s mine:

In the Zipp picture:

they have the pads much higher than I do. If you use typical pad clamps, try them upside down to get you elbows lower.

without your arms on them, the 110’s looks SKY high, but with them they look ok

how is the wrist releif on them?

I tried S bends straight out when they first came out and I couldn’t get comfortable at all. These are like high rise S bends and they are very comfortable. I had to shim up the front of my elbow pads to get them right. These extensions also have the strangest bend you will ever see. The rear part is straight, Then when they start to curve up they also sweep inward. At first it looks like the Zipp lables face in but, trust me, they do face out.

These extensions will work to get your hands up.

I’m swapping to a set of these now, also on a Vuka Stealth base bar. What did you shim your pads with? Just washers?

I was in the third facet on the elbow cups, but am considering going narrower which brings the pads up about 10mm so I’ll have to drop the basebar or change pedestals. Did you end up extending your reach from where it was before tilting up your forearms? Any change in absolute pad stack?

Don’t laught. I got longer bolts and used two valve stem lock nuts per side. It worked just right. This is on a new IA16. Extension length was originally longer but I brought it back to the same reach I had before.

Wait til you see the bend on these extensions. For the life of me, I can’t figure out why they did them this way.

No laughing. I appreciate the info.

I’ve got them on the bench with one of my old carbon Bonty wrist relief style extensions in place and the other side using the new Evo 110. They do have a crazy shape. I want the rise, but just hope they don’t flatten out too much compared to my preferred ski tip bends.

I think the 10-15 degree range for the 110s is probably as accurate as we can get without knowing your exact set up. Subbtract around 5 degrees for the 70s.

If you use typical pad clamps, try them upside down to get you elbows lower.
Would you mind posting a picture of this?

This pic, from Profile, shows the way the clamp is supposed to be mounted. It keeps the pads above the extensions;

You can flip the bracket around and get the pads down even with the bottom of the extensions.

I’m using the Evo 70s and have PD J4 brackets angled up at 7 degrees, so approaching 12 degrees total forearm tilt between the angle and bar rise. This is the most comfortable set up i have tried to date. As Sweeney notes the sweep on the extensions seems weird at first as they roll inward when they go up and then slightly outward by the shifter creating a shallow grip area, but they allow your wrist to take a more natural ‘handshake’ position. I really like them. I have them on an IA10 with a PD Svet zero base bar currently. Its probably not the most aero bar setup, but by far the most comfortable.

I have the shifters facing straight forward. But it was a chore getting them straight. Just a tiny twist of the bar and one would look crooked. Adjust that one and the other would look wrong.

Totally agree, getting the bars lined up together with the same roll was a chore. With Di2 I like having the pods angled to use my thumb on the buttons and getting similar roll on both sides is tough. You also need to be careful on width between the extensions based on your mounting hardware. With the PD setup I ended up rolling the bars slightly outward so I can get my fingers around both extensions to grip without touching. On a different bar with wider mounts this was not a problem and I ended up rolling the bars in to get the right hand spacing.
