Scotland gave the whole ‘lets be part of Britain thing a good try’, but now it looks like things may be changing.
What’s the over/under on separation? Best guess when it’ll happen?

10% chance it will happen. Never. Scotland can’t afford it.

So the Irish get to have nice things (like trade and jobs) and the Scott’s don’t?

And you have an extra t

No I don’t.
The Scott’s do have some of the nicest things in Scranton, PA.
Not even remotely similar.
Scotland lives off the subsidies of SE England.
Whilst windy is correct that they can’t afford it, that won’t stop them because the EU definitely wants another state to subsidise and the Germans were just debating how they’d like to pay more tax to subsidise the Scots.
Ireland on the other hand has been productive, generated investment and unification simply means Belfast merges in the the EU whereas Scotland would need to apply, be accepted, have a currency, fiscal and monetary policy and a balanced budget… Will never happen
Won’t happen until after Northern Ireland leaves to unite with the rest of Ireland.

Do you need more evidence than brexit that people do very dumb things? Scotland leaving the UK post brexit, is only marginally dumber than brexit.
No, in this instance it’s a magnitude greater.
Scotland is to the UK /EU what the UK is to the US
Scotland has nothing, it runs a deficit, is unproductive would be more isolated from eu and UK, has no independent currency, has no fiscal management ability…
But Scots want their independence and no one would support them in that aspiration more than me

Before brexit, independance of Scotland was magnitudes dumber than brexit. Post brexit, it is much less dumb to leave the UK for the EU.
Not true. Let’s say England Wales decide to diverge from eu to us and Scotland wants to join the eu
Scotland needs to start running a surplus.
Develop and implement a currency
Build a hard border
Figure out how it would trade with eu avoiding 2 UK borders; Dover valais and then North of England / scotland
Again, I’d pay Scotland to leave but its an act of idiocy magnitudes greater than Brexit because there is no guarantee the EU would accept them why does the EU need another poor state?
The tax rate differential won’t be allowed to exist forever. In time the EU will patch that over one way or another. The uglier things get in the EU the faster they’ll patch over the differential in some way and thus suffocate Ireland (I’m Irish/Polish fwiw).
The EU will disintegrate before that, or at the very least undergo some sort of fundamental restructure.
The Eastern countries could not afford to standardise. The French would not have a German finance minister setting tax. The Italians and Greeks wouldn’t pay it and the Irish would lose the progress they’ve made.
Weirdly, it could lead back to a more eea type arrangement if they just dumped the currency and stuck to a free trade zone
