Vittoria Mastik one tubular glue and continental tyres

I’ve got some Continental Podium TT tubs that I was going to glue to my race wheels (disc/808). But I just read this:

  • the glue doesn’t work with Conti Tubulars! Conti Tubulars use a cotton bottom layer that’s designed to soak up a layer of glue and then bonds with the layer on the rim. It only works with Vittoria and Bontrager Tubulars (made at Vittoria). Vittoria Tubulars have a rubber/plasic base at the bottom which bonds well with the rim via the Magic Mastic glue. I have made the mistake of glueing a Conti tire with MM and was really really pissed off to find the tires coming off with one hand from my rim when testing them for even bonding.

So is the Vittoria Mastik One glue no good for the Contis? Do they need a specific glue?

Cyclocross tubulars all have a cotton base-tape.
The stress on a CX tubular is significantly greater than Road / TT.
Mastik One is the gold standard.

No issues what so ever.

The quote refers to Magic Mastik, not regular mastik. The regular stuff definitely works with contis.

Gotcha ta

Has Conti switched to using latex tubes in their tubulars? If not, I don’t see why anyone would use them.
