Vittoria chrono 24 diameter and hed stingers

I was wondering if anyone has had a chance to put this tire in a hed c2 stinger and how it’s fit was. I don’t have access to the tire or else I would try it myself. Is it a true 24 or does it run a little small. I have a weekly tt series coming up on a smoooooth track so punctures are not an issue.

I haven’t heard of a Crono 24. Do you mean the Crono 22 ?? If so they measure ~ 21 mm in width. I have a Bonty RXL Pro tubular which measures ~ 21.5 mm - it is more narrow than the C2 tubular rim but IMO fits the wheel well.

I have been using a CX corsa 21mm which is about 22mm wide but only as I already had some when I bought the wheel!

I run the same as m@tty. I believe HED says that the Stinger performs best with the 21s.

I contacted hed who told me 22 or 23 mm tubs would work best! When I change these I will probably go for some veloflex carbon 22mm

It’s been a while but I believe HED said at one point that they used Corsa Evo CX 21mm’s for their aero tests? I remember it was Crosa Evo CX’s but I can’t recall the exact width.

Personally I run Stinger 6/9’s with Corsa Evo CX II’s, 23mm rear and 21mm front.

To the best of my knowledge the Crono is only once size and it’s not 24. The new Hed rim is actually a bit wider than a 1080 rim and the Bontrager RXL pro is a really nice match (but not on the Stingers). On my 2010 Stingers I had to go with a 23 from Vittoria and I’m hoping that their new CX slick 23 is the same as the CXs as they look a lot like the tire they made fro Bontrager without the little Bs stamped into the rubber.

my .02 cents

The two CX 23’s I tested (320 tpi) were ~ 22.5 mm in width so a tad undersized. I do have an RXL Pro on my Stinger 9 (2009 - 21.5 mm) - it is more narrow than the rim but I’ve smoothed out the transition with liquid latex. I think it’s aero OK but no data to back that up. The outside of the rim at the start of the brake surface is ~ 24.4 mm and the inside of the tire bed curvature is ~ 22.5 mm.
