I purchased my Boardman AiR TT 9.4 and I’m really happy with it but I’d like to tweak the bar setup. My bike came with the Vision Trimax Carbon bars with the R bend extensions - but I’d really like to get my hands on the J bend extensions to see if this will improve long-term comfort. I’ve checked with the suppliers in the UK but they don’t have any part number or stock information.
The Vision FSA website (http://www.visiontechusa.com/...TriMax-Carbon-Si-CSI ) quote these as ‘replaceable extensions’ which I’m guessing means I should be able to purchase these separately. Does anyone have any names of suppliers in the US that may have these available? Or does anyone with these bars fancy a swap for the r bend extensions?
Most manufacturers make the extensions in 22-22.2 mm diameter. Any extension that fits in the clamp can be used in the bars. Measure the bar diameter that you have and get any extension that’s the same (22mm and 22.2mm are interchangeable as the 0.2 mm difference is virtually nothing). Personally I’m using a Zipp Vuka clamp with 3T extensions, you don’t need Vision extensions for your setup.
Go for it man, you realise after a while with some basic bike mechanic knowledge that different brands can be swapped as long as they work together. In your (our case), if the extensions are the same diameter then use whatever brand you want.

I am in the same position. I haven’t found alternative extensions that fit because on the vision system they clamp-fit OVER a pin of 20mm diameter meaning that the extensions need an internal diameter of 20mm.
My Profile carbon extensions have an internal diameter of 17mm. I guess some alloy extensions might have a similar 20mm internal diameter?
The other factor is that they have a slot to allow clamping which would have to be home-cut into other extensions.
Lack of availability is frustrating!
FSA/Vision say that they don’t sell them separately! Really?!
You can’t change your mind once you’ve bought a set up and decide to swap to different extensions?
Seems silly to me.
So for me, it’s a matter of modifying some 22.2 alloy extensions with the required clamp slot and crossing my fingers that there’s nothing else special about them that I’ve missed!
I eventually ended up buying a set of J-bend Vision bars on eBay from an American seller and swapped the entire bars over. Probably not the cheapest option, but certainly way more comfortable now with the J-bend bars.

It turned out I had the older style bars:
That set up does not have the separate extension from the clamp so the complete set us needs to be ordered if you are wanting to go to the J bend system.

And here is the newer F.A.S.T. system that have adjustable arms in both the alloy and carbon arm extension. You can swap between the R and J bend if you so do choose to purchase the other one on the side.

I would maybe drop them an email and see if you can upgrade your current bars rather than having to replace as I did!
I’ve sent a pleading email to FSA - it seems ridiculous to me that they didn’t allow people to change simple alloy extensions without having to swap their entire, VERY expensive aerobar set-up!
I ordered some others extensions, which fit. But actually I got no idea how to remove the mountings inner parts. You can see the silver part which is left in the old extensions. Any ideas how to remove or how to fix the new extensions in Visions bar?
