Vision Tech Metron Aerobar Shifters Compatibility

Anyone use the Metron shifters and can comment on what aerobars they are compatible with? I just purchased a pair and neither the website I purchased the shifters from nor the Vision Tech website mentions that they will only fit specific aerobars. Obviously any Vision Tech Aerobar is fine but I currently have the Profile Design Cobra T2+ bars. Looking to see if there are other aerobars that these shifters could fit in before I return them.

they fit in/on the Bontrager carbon ergo S-bend extensions.

one key is to find extensions with not only the right ID but also the right OD (round, 22.0-22.2 I believe). they do not, for example, work in our old RXXXL ski bends…the ID is correct (Metron plug is essentially the same as Shimano and SRAM shifters), but because the Metron’s clamp from the outside of the extension the OD also has to be round and the old RXXXL’s have a molded detail for the shift housing.

Thanks Carl! You hit the nail on the head. The inside diameter on the Metron is pretty standard but since it clamps on the outside, the outside diameter/thickness limits which aerobars the shifters can be mounted on. Unfortunately outside diameter isn’t something easily found and Vision Tech doesn’t list other aerobars that are compatible outside of their own. The other trick is then finding aerobars that will work with my current Profile Design base bar. It has been more of a mess than I anticipated to try out the Metron Shifters

Damn, and I was going to do a new cockpit with the P-D ProSvet with P-D T3+ with the Metron Shifters for an Ultegra 6700 drivetrain. (brakes were going to be the P-D SemiCarbon ABS levers or possbily the Magura RT-6)

are the vision metron levers compatible with a sram rival groupset?
