What is your opinions on these brake levers? I am wondering if they comfortable and durable or do they just look cool, but kill our hand when using? I am deciding on what brake levers to put on my new bike and am choosing between the vision aero and the cane creek carbon. Do I go with the sweet aero or do I choose the carbon cane creek 200 tt for comfort?
They are not uncomfortable. I’ve used them without complaint on what is practically a commuting bike - the product holds up very well even outside it’s intended purpose. There are other issues with the Vision brakes however:
1.Vision customer service is non-existent - plan on buying a new pair even if you need to replace the plastic cap on the end - something that you could easily lose to common road vibrations.
The most disgusting part - they use a proprietary cable set that will cost you US$ 20(ish) to replace and is not readily available.
I love the vision brake levers. They actually are quite comfortable in my opinion. They don’t look like much in pictures but are a very nice piece of engineering in my opinion. They work very well especially with my preferred 2 finger braking. Very aero as well. Nothing has gone wrong so I can’t comment about customer service as commented on above.
I am glad to hear you like the cane creeks. I think that they look like really comfortable levers and have had a few cc products with good luck. I was not aware that with the vision they had proprietary cable. Kind of ridicules if you ask me
I have the Vision levers and am considering going to another lever. The Vision levers I have rattle like mad and drive me nuts on long rides. Specifically, the brake lever pivots on a single metal rivet (not sure if that is the right term, but you get the idea), which is not tensioned by a return spring in the lever. That little rivet rattles (probably because there is no tension from a return spring) almost constantly on everything but the absolute smoothest roads. I called Vision to see if they would replace the levers and they said no. They suggested wrapping a rubber band around the lever (yeah, right), or pinching that rivet with pliers. Pliers didn’t work. They are super light, and very aero, but not worth the trade-off in my opinion. 30 or so grams extra so that I don’t have to listen to that d*mn rattle? Easy decision.
I looked at the SRAM Red levers, but they don’t fit the Vision carbon bullhorns without modification of the bullhorn or brake lever. So I will probably go with the Cane Creeks unless someone has a better suggestion.
I had the same insane rattle problem with mine and have resorted to cutting about a 1/2" section from an old tube and sliding it up the lever This does work very well to get rid of the noise but I do find myself pushing the tube back into place every now and then (once every 2-3 hours?) though. Although this does work it kills me that I have to do this and I am considering new levers but don’t really need to buy new base bars right now. Do the Cane Creeks actually fit the Vison Carbon bar? I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone confirm that.

I went over to the LBS last week to check out different levers for fit. They only had the Cane Creek Carbon TT levers and the SRAM Red levers. Just quickly trying the Cane Creeks, it seemed like they would work fine, but I didn’t fully install them with the expansion bolt to make sure. I just know they slid into the bar ends (but you have to remove the metal shim/sleave that comes on the Cane Creeks.
The SRAM Red has a non-removable rubber gasket that is slightly too large to fit in the Vision carbon base bar. I think a little sanding would take care of this problem, but it’s tough to take a dremel took or sandpaper to your $120 brake levers and your $200 base bar.
Anybody tried the Bontrager or Oval levers with the Vision carbon base bars?

I’ve got the Vision levers, and they’re light, I suppose aero, and work fine. They don’t hurt your fingers, and will do a nose wheelie if you pull the levers hard enough. The trick to getting rid of the rattle (which I assume happens on all their levers), is to cut out 4 little triangles of black electrical tape, and place them on either side of the rivets. Rattle is gone, virtually no extra weight, zero maintenance, and it’s possibly more aero (smoothes the airflow over the rivet? Just a thought experiment).
edit: not to hijack the thread, but how do you get the index/non-index shift ring on DA shifters to stop rattling? THAT has been driving me insane since I started triathlon.
