I’m giving serious consideration to buying a Wahoo Kickr, and I’m also looking at software options. My main focus is something that will let me do long indoor virtual rides (i.e. playing a course “video” while the trainer matches resistance to the terrain).
From what I can tell, the current options (CycleOps Virtual Training, Kinomap, etc.) mainly seem to be subscriptions based. Does anyone know of any that aren’t?
RAD+ is a virtual training software product that is not subscription based. RAD+ displays Real-Time ANT+ data from a variety of devices. It lets you create your own workouts or ride from existing ones. It saves your data so you don’t need to use a separate bike computer.
The software runs only on Windows PCs currently. In addition to being able to ride alone, you can also ride with others using our RAD+ Social feature. We have an associated website on which you can host sessions, invite others, and then ride the same workout together with all of your results being displayed.
You can try it before you buy. Simply register on the website www.radplussports.com, download the software, and follow instructions for a temporary key.
Virtual training started off as not subscription based but seems to have moved to that model without any real announcement. Competitive cyclist still sells the software, but I don’t know if that means you wouldn’t have to pay anything more:
Think we have just what you need. It works with Wahoo KICKR.
Forgot to tell our software is free and is going to stay this way. We sell videos but
while those are fun and professional quality you can do workouts without videos.
