Vineman-Hotels?

Anybody have any recommendations on where to stay? Looking to be pretty close to the race site without spending to much.

A lot of hotels seem to be booked already.

Thx, AR

I DO NOT recommend 1) the Hilton in Santa Rosa and 2) the holiday inn express in Windsor. The hilton cancelled our reservation a day after I’d confirmed it and 3 months after I’d made it. They moved us to the holiday inn express which screwed up virtually everything that was possible with regards to the reservation and billing. I’m being kind here.

Fountain Grove Inn, Extended Stay Suites in Santa Rosa, both are at the same intersection just a mile or so north of the Hyatt (race hotel) and that much closer to River Rd. Lots of stores and restaurants down on Mendocino about a mile.

Corn, Kerri and I stayed at Ramada Inn Express which was fine. Close to River Road and halfway between the high school and registration. For Full Vineman/Barb’s, I’ll be staying at my friends’ house, which is what I usually do.

There is also a Best Western in Healdsburg. Take the Dry Creek exit of 101. As for the Holiday Inn Express in Windsor, it is the closest to T2/finish. It just opened in June so maybe some growing pains with new employees but if you want to be less than mile from T2/finish it is your only option.

Ditto on Fountaingrove Inn—3rd stay there, nice place and decently priced. Just make sure you get the bigger rooms (mini-suite I think they call it?) which are really nice for the money. The smaller rooms are fine but just not as comfy-feeling. Good location, as mentioned about a mile or so away from the River Road exit and just a few miles away from the host hotel.

Of course for next year, this place sucks, don’t stay there, fleabag, etc.

DoubleTree in Roenhert Park - can’t say enough good things. Staff is AWESOME, nice pool, jacuzzi, and workout room. Rooms, at least those with a King bed, are more than large enough for comfort. Close to couple of decent restaurants (definatly try Lattitude outside seating over a small man-made lake, even if you stay elsewhere). I DO NOT recommend the restaurant in the DoubleTree however. It’s called Bacchus. They should change the name to eat-here-if-you-want-SLOW-service-or-to-be-completely-forgot-about-by-your-waiter…more-than-once-on-different-days-with-different-waiters.

That would be one heck of a long neon sign.

Yes, I did leave a comment in the Comment Box when we left, both praising the lodging but pointing out the flawed restaurant.

Ditto on the Hilton in Santa Rosa, worst hotel experience of my life. I think sleeping on the deck of an aircraft carrier would have been quieter.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express and didn’t have any problems. Although I do have to say that they have only been open for a couple of months so I’m sure they didn’t have they’re crap together.

I talked to a few that got bounced from the Hilton and I would never give them my business.

if you just need an easy inn, easy out place i would say the days inn in santa rosa was just fine for me and my 4 friends that squeezed into a room pre- 1/2 vineman. just off the 101, maybe only 10 minutes further from the start then the host hotel.

I stayed at the Extended Stay America (Santa Rosa-South) for the 1/2 Vineman. The rate was $65/nt, and had fridge, microwave, range, and bathtub…and the essentials in my book. Good luck.
