Vineman 70.3 Race Report

There are a few things I don’t quite get about your race report. If you’ve done this race 9 times in a row, not to mention the other triathlons you’ve done in your life, why are there so many rookie mistakes? I don’t see how you can not have your nutrition down by now or how you can forget to lube your socks or have electrolytes, etc. It just seems like a bunch of BS excuses.

Also, while your personal computer times are interesting, the only clock that matters is the official race clock. Hell, I could sprint 18.7 miles stop for 40 minutes and recover and repeat until I finished it doesn’t make my time faster if I only include the riding time. If the official clock had you at 3:18, I’m sorry but that just doesn’t count as a PR if your previous best was 3:12.

Nutrition: bad planning for some of it; lack of what they said they would have for the rest (and unable to take in what was left on the course).

Training day: mentally not into racing it. So shoot me.

I’ve ridden the course a few hundred times, so I know what kind of times I ride it in. Riding time is what has been measured a few hundred times, so that’s what I compare. I’m not submitting it to the world record people. Shoot me again.

Thanks for your concerns. I had a fun day with friends (for the most part) and got a good training day in.
