Vick's VapoRub and Swimming

Has anyone tried this due to allergies?

I had a lot of congestion from swimming in a pollen covered lake (I think this was the reason as I’m mildly allergic to every type of pollen but the water temperature was 4-5 degrees colder than the last swim…60s) last week and it was a bit difficult to breath. I was thinking about giving this a shot as I took an allergy pill and used nose spray before swimming. I probably won’t be swimming in open water again before a HIM so, I’m thinking it’s a bad idea but thought I’d see if other people have tried it before I completely rule it out.

If you have a true allergy,i would take benadryl. That being said I swear by vicks vapo-rub for runs and bikes when my allergies are bothering me. I like the smell anyway; it kind of wakes me up.

I also use it as a substitute for vaseline petroleum jelly when I run to keep from getting blisters-same base (petroleum jelly) and it makes my totes kind of tingle-ly!
